Chapter 146

Dylan's POV

No matter how many times I repeated it to myself that I was acting under a spell, it didn't help the guilt I felt, especially when I saw the bruises on Alpha Kieran's body. No doubt he didn't fight back which made everything worse.

“You're here again." Allie said, “you're stealing my thinking spot and I don't think I like it." She added, coming to sit beside me on the bench.

The pavilion was her favorite spot and because it was mostly secluded, it became mine too.

“Thinking spot, huh? What else do you have to think about? You're the happiest I've seen you."

Her smile widened, “I am happy…but it doesn't mean I can't come here to think." She said. “A lot of things have happened the past few days and even weeks, I just want things to go back to how they used to be."

I nodded, understanding what she was talking about. Her mom was currently sitting in the dungeon and she didn't want to hear anything about her.

“I thought things were going well with your dad?” I asked.

Her smile faltered a bit, "don't get me wrong, I love my dad and spending time with him this past few days have been nice and all,” she started and I chuckled lightly, knowing where she was going.

“But now I barely spend time with Ryder. And at night when we're supposed to be spending time together, my stupid brother decides to make him go on patrol.” She complained.

And this time I couldn't help it as I burst into a full blown laugh.

"I'm glad I was able to amuse you.” She grumbled, frowning her face.

Soon, I found myself pushing aside my own worry to laugh at her. After our relationship…if I can call it that ended, and she got back with Ryder, I waited for the surge of jealousy whenever I saw them together, but nothing came. Instead, there was a relief that she was happy and we were still close.

“You can decide to go along with him–” she glared at me and I raised my hand in mock surrender. "It's not my fault, you should try talking to your brother. Besides that's majorly his duty.”

She rolled her eyes, "you don't think I know that?”

I shrugged.

Minutes passed and we both stared into space, thinking about whatever was on both our minds. Even my wolf didn't bother to send snide comments my way about, reminding me how we could've been happy together.

“How long are you going to keep avoiding us?" She asked, her gaze meeting mine.

"What are you talking about? I'm with you right now.” I replied, purposely missing the point.

And if possible, her glare became deeper. “Only because I found you…not because I was looking for you or anything.”

I smiled, "so you were looking for me?”

"Not the point, but I'm saving you from Kaia.” She told me, "I swear, her pregnancy is making her scary. Even Kieran knows better than to get her mad, but you my darling, have been constantly doing that so you might as well consider yourself a dead man…except she's feeling generous.”

I froze, "It's not that bad, right?”

"Tell me about it when you finally meet her.” And a groan left my lips as I ran a hand through my hair.

"Maybe I should run away until she gives birth.” I thought and my wolf, who has been silent until now snorted. “You might as well stay there permanently." He mocked.

I was still lost in thoughts, thinking about my options when Ryder appeared, his eyes trained on Allie.

"I can't believe that the wolves are lurking around when I'm supposed to be spending time time with my girl." He grumbled, wearing the same look Allie had when she spoke about him earlier.

“Ry baby,” she called, stretching her hands towards him. "I thought you were going to be gone the whole day.”

Both of them hugged, pushing me to the side, causing me to roll my eyes. "I can't believe the two of you.” I said, but they were too lost in each other to pay attention to me anymore.

Slipping away, I walked around the Pack without any destination in mind. I would face Kaia when I think she would be in a happy mood.

My steps faltered a bit when a smell hit me but the next second, it was gone like it never existed and I only imagined it. But before I could go in search for what the smell was, I heard muffled sounds and I chose to check that instead.
