Clubrooms Diary novel Chapter 39

MALAYINA

May 14th 2018

Through teary eyes, and a blurry vision. I watch Amar dive to the floor. The bullet penetrates the wall, leaving a perfectly circular hole in its wake.

I sigh with relief and wipe the tears from my eyes. Breathing heavily, I turn to face my father. The Hulk has a belt wrapped around his neck through the opened large window. A deep red shadow starts to creep up his face as he struggles to breathe. With the gun still in his possession, he points it at me. I yelp, scrabbling backwards, shaking my head as I stare into his hateful eyes.

The Hulk yanks on the belt harder, my fathers head jerks back and he drops the gun, scratching at his neck. Amar storms past me, he snarls, punching my abuser four times in the face as he yells at him in his native tongue. I gulp, watching with wide eyes as my fathers head sags. The Hulk releases the belt from his neck and he falls to the ground like a sack of potatoes.

I get to my feet and run out of the room. The need to remove myself from the scene consumes me violently. The need to escape my past possesses me more.

How could Maddie do this to me?

How could she stoop this low by risking my life? The reason behind Amar getting rid of her has nothing to do with me. I run into the changing room, I strip and jump into the shower on the coldest setting. Sliding down the wall, I bring my knees up to my chest, screaming and crying.

"Mal honey, is that you?" I hear Lisa ask on the other side of the cubicle.

I tuck my head into my chest, squeezing my eyes shut. Wishing the world would stop spinning for a brief moment while I try to absorb what just happened.

How did I not see the signs or why didn't I trust my instincts and not enter the room in the first place?

I shake my head, disappointed in myself.

"Mal..." She taps on the glass door. Reminding me this is my reality.

"Mal.... Honey, what happened?" She asks sincerely.

"I'm fine." I whimper, telling the biggest lie I've ever told.

"You don't sound fine, babe."

I hear her sigh before she titters.

"Leave us."  His deep voice fills the room.

"I.. Uh.. sh-"

"Leave." He says once more, with determination.

"Mal, I'm going to leave. But if you don't want me to go tell me and  I won't." I could hear the tremble in her voice as she tries to stand her ground with Amar for my sake.

I gnaw on my inner cheek, preventing myself from begging her to stay. I know it will only drive Amar over the edge and I don't want Lisa getting caught in the crossfire.

Moments later I hear her shoes clicking against the tile flooring as she exits the room.
