But still, Jessica couldn’t figure out why Lorenzo appeared so mad because of such a trifle.
After a short silence, Alina realized what happened.
After all, as the daughter of Erica, Jessica was born to be unusual.
No wonder she always caught the eyes of other men.
“Jessica, you have been surprising us. I really wonder if there is still anything impressive about you that we haven’t noticed.” Alina smiled at her.
“Actually, I don’t think it’s something worth bragging about. Besides, Aunt Valentina and I haven’t been so familiar with each other. And I have been just a common girl.” Said Jessica bashfully.
As sophisticated as Alina had been, she could tell that Jessica said so to reveal her humble personality, which was rare to see among girls at her age.
Besides, she also noticed that Jessica still remained conservative while retelling what was happening. Obviously, there must be something more stunning that she hadn’t uncovered.
Or perhaps Jessica never deemed it something impressive as she had been used to being low-profile. But in the eyes of others, it must be something incredible.
At the thought of that, Alina was even more gratified by the choice she made. Though Jessica had been incredibly outstanding, she knew how to lay low and stay humble. All she wanted was to stay focused on academy.
Undoubtedly, she was worth being treasured.
“Amazing! Never have I expected that you actually got dual doctorate degrees at the age of 16. That’s the reason why you didn’t finish your middle school. What a genius! No wonder you can impress my demanding little girl. You are the very first one who can win her greatest favor. To some degrees, you even overtake Wilfred from the perspective of Valentina.” Alina held her hand caringly to speak. Then she turned to look at Lorenzo, “Lorenzo, you gotta be so blessed that you managed to marry her. Jessica, to be honest, Lorenzo has been retarded when dealing with relationship. Kid, listen, if you dare to fail Jessica, I will definitely revenge on you!”
Jessica fixed her eyes on Lorenzo, who was sitting on the couch nearby while fiddling with tea set.
Meanwhile, he seemed to notice her gaze. So he raised his head to look at her.
“Grandma, please continue with the talk with her. I got something else to do.” Lorenzo uttered casually. Then he stood up and walked to the study.
“Grandma, I gotta get myself changed.” Seeing that, Jessica figured out an excuse to walk away. She somehow felt a bit upset.
“Okay. But remember to have dinner when it’s ready.” Alina smiled to reply.
Inside the study, Lorenzo was sitting in front of his desk with legs crossed while smoking, on which files were piled up for his disposal. Meanwhile, the ashtray was stuffed with cigarette butts.
After a long silence, he stood up to walk into the bedroom. However, when he laid his hand on the knob, he still held back his urge to push the door open.
Standing at the stairs for minutes, he turned around to enter the closet.
After packing up his luggage, he went downstairs.
“Lorenzo, where are you going?” seeing him walking outside the door with the luggage case, Alina asked worriedly.
“I got something urgent to deal with. I gotta leave tonight. Don’t worry, grandma. I am fine.”
But his face still remained sulky with his voice mixed with gloom.
“Stop explaining to me! You should explain to Jessica!” Alina responded seriously.
Lorenzo still kept silent.
“Stop!” Alina huffed.
“Wilfred has a crush on her, right?”
As a sophisticated lady being through a lot, Alina could tell the reason immediately.
