"I can't believe this."
He was scrolling through the system window, checking out all the skills. That would be his hundredth time doing that. It seemed as though he wasn't getting enough of it. Probably it was way too good to believe.
"I probably should exchange points for all the skills."
He nodded to that and started to click on several skills which his fingers tapped. He didn't for once check out the costs of the skills, instead, he went ahead unlocking all the skills till he got to the last one.
"No way... did I really unlock all the skills? And features?"
His eyes scurried to the experience points which he had left.
"378k experience points left. Wow! This is way too good to be true."
He allowed every sense of judgement in him to absorb the feelings which dominated his mind at that moment. It was very exhilarating.
Suddenly, he pushed the system window back in. He looked around him. He couldn't tell precisely where he was. It was late and gloom had gotten the best of the woods.
"Where am I?"
He strained his eyes to see where he was. He wasn't with a torch, and the moon wasn't up either. It was quite a disadvantage to him.
"How am I supposed to get to the Boabab tree without hitting my head on several trees."
The realization of that thought was quite scary as well as its consequence. Thinking about it alone sent chills down his spine.
Suddenly, his eyes began to sting.
"Ow, my eyes. It hurts."
He put the back of his hands to his closed eyes, rubbing them with urgency yet delicately. He couldn't ruin his vision because he wanted to feel comfortable. If you asked him, he had no idea what was happening to him at that moment.
The stinging graduated into burning. It seemed as though his eyes had been set on fire. It hurt so bad that he couldn't itch anymore, he only groaned and danced around in wild ectasy.
Without warning, the strange and uncomfortable experience stopped and his body system seemed to be back to normal.
"What was that about?"
He touched his eyes. He couldn't feel any iota of pain.
"Why did it hurt so badly? I thought I was not going to see anymore. I thought the system would take my eyes because of the many skills I have just unl---"
Suddenly, he noticed two round blue lights on the trunk of a tree.
"Huh? What is that?"
He walked briskly to the standing trunk and touched it. When he did, his hand interfered with the projection of the illuminant and dropped on the back of his hand.
"Huh?"
He got more confused. The size of the two balls of light was the size of a baseball each. What was there not to be confused about?
He looked away from the trunk and the light followed. He looked to another direction and the light did the same.
He began to shake his head, muttering,
"No, no way."
He gulped. There was a sudden realization which had just hit him, but he was reluctant to entertain it. He just couldn't. Perhaps it was too early to do so.
He stopped looking to and fro and looked to the earth. The two baseball-sized lights fell on the damp earth.
He shrugged. The more he tried to shake off the ideas which were forming at the depth of the consciousness, the more he embraced them unconsciously. It seemed as though his mind was playing some sort of tricks on him.
"It can't be. No way..."
He gulped, as he slowly put up one of his hands. He didn't look at his hands yet. He kept pushing up the arm slowly till his left hand was at the level of his chest.
Then slowly, he raised his head and arced his vision to the level of the hands. He looked at the back of his hand. Only one of the balls of light could seat gracefully in the back of his hand.
He gulped again, his heart pounding heavily in his chest. He was very nervous, but he had no idea why he should. Probably because he was in denial of the fact which was conspicuously presented to him. Seated in front of his eyes.
He put up the other hand, not too close to the first nor too far. When his second pupil fell on the second hand, the second ball of light dropped.
"Oh shit... my eyes are torches! Electric torches! What the fuck!!!"
He was caught between the claws of emotional hurdle. He didn't know which emotions to nurse. Whether to be happy or confused. Or scared. He had hard time doing that.
But then suddenly, as though his brain finally came to a conclusion, his face broke into a wild laugh.
"Oh my God!!! This is insane. What is this called?"
[Ping! Host activated the Lunar Vision of the night. Duration: The fall of the night until the sun rises.]
Damien didn't need further explanation. He nodded to what the system had said.
That moment, he allowed a feeling which he rarely gave room; he was grateful to the system.
"This is cool. I can get this over with."
He began to walk up the path, as quickly as he could.
"This isn't helpful."
He decided to use the zoom function. He zoomed through the woods to the cave where he had found the wolf and Evelyn. Before going in, he activated the invisible gait.
He walked into it and searched through.
"Where is she? Is she not here?"
He walked out and zoomed to the castle. He walked into the castle. The girls were eating. The castle was lit up with torches.
He couldn't take note of what they were eating. He didn't care.
"If she is not here, then where could she possibly be? She's neither at the cave nor here."
His eyes squinted for a moment.
"No, no... that can't be. I trust Der, she would take care of her."
I TRUST DER?
He couldn't believe that he said that himself. He still had grudges to settle with the wolf.
He zoomed out of the castle. He decided to check the other safehouse, but neither of them were there.
"Where could she be?"
He bit his lower lip. He zoomed out of that space and halted in the woods. He flipped out the system window. The torches in his eyes helped a lot.
