I didn't dwell on the incident too much; after all, Ryan's attitude was quite firm.

I reached for his hand, intending to ask him where he got the flowers, but noticed he was distracted, scrolling through his phone.

After calling his name several times, he finally snapped back to reality.

"Becca, you must be hungry. I'm going to get you some takeout."

Without waiting for a response, he quickly turned and left.

I stood there, stunned.

Was he going to find Lana?

Seeing my confusion, one of his friends quickly tried to smooth things over.

"Becca, Ryan really cares about you. He's even going out to get you takeout."

"But I don't even like takeout."

As soon as I said that, I realized Ryan must have been heading to Lana.

Looking at the roses in front of me, I felt a pang of irony.
