Book 6 Chapter14.
I walked into the hospital room and slapped Ryan across the face.
"I never thought you could be so manipulative, Ryan. Do you think this will make me feel sorry for you?"
"It just makes me hate you more!"
His eyes widened in shock, and his face turned pale.
"Becky, you know?"
"If I hadn't overheard your phone call, were you planning to keep this from me forever?"
I looked at him, feeling like I was seeing a stranger for the first time.
He used to make me love him madly.
Now, I felt nothing but indifference, like a calm sea.
"No, Becky, I just wanted so much for us to get back together that I came up with this plan."
"I didn't want you to be taken by someone else. No one loves you more than I do."
He looked completely shattered.
"You know, after you left for abroad, I searched for you for ages. At one point, I even thought about ending it al if I couldn't find you."
It was ridiculous. Was he trying to use suicide to threaten me?
"Ryan, no matter what you say, I'm not getting back together with you."
"I used to love you, but now I'm completely indifferent."
"My disappointment didn't come suddenly; it's built up over time."
"In your heart, I was never the most important. You could push me aside when I was hurt, only to come back and try to win me over."
"Ryan, that's not love!"
My words seemed to snap the last thread in his mind.
He actually started crying, covering his face.
"I'm sorry. I really made a mistake."
"Please give me another chance."
"No, it's too late. Let's just move on and be happy separately."
Without hesitation, I turned and left, packing my bags and preparing to wander the world painting.
When I arrived at the airport, I was surprised to find Luca Romano had come as well.
He was carrying a backpack and smiled at me. "What a coincidence, I'm heading off to wander the world too."
I smiled back. "Sure, let's go together."
We set off together, traveling and painting.
Each day was fulfilling and joyful.
As for Ryan, after that day, he sent me a message from an unknown number.
"I'm sorry, Becky."
I didn't reply.
I felt there was no possibility of us ever being together again, so there was no need to stay in touch.
