After thinking about it, Hayden decided to only tell Kevin about the “scandal” after he returned.
She had already told her secretary to handle it anyway. The news would be removed soon.
Kevin’s secretary dealt with the matter as soon as he learned about it.
The news disappeared within minutes of its publication.
Back in Wiltspoon, Serenity, Zachary, and Sonny had dinner with the Lewises. Once she got news of Liberty’s safe arrival, Serenity relayed the information to Duncan.
She said, “She’ll contact you once she reaches the hotel.”
Duncan, who was in the wheelchair pushed by Zachary, smiled and said, “I know. She sent me a message.”
Serenity replied, “That’s great. You two have to sort things out. Sonny, come down and take a walk. You shouldn’t let Duncan hold you all the time.”
“It’s okay. I like having Sonny in my arms.”
Duncan had promised that he would treat Sonny as his own.
Nevertheless, Sonny got off Duncan’s lap. He said, “Aunt Ser, you told me walking after eating is good. What does it do?”
“It aids digestion and controls your blood sugar.”
“I see. I don’t want to be chubby. Laurence will laugh at me when we meet again.”
Sonny had a lot of pride.
“If you’re chubby, you might be able to pin Laurence down and beat him in matches.”
Sonny asked, “Can I really win?”
He could boast about it for the entire winter if he beat Laurence.
Zachary laughed. “She’s lying. If you put on too much weight, your reflexes will become slow, and you’ll lose. Using your weight as an advantage only works when your opponent is weak. Is Laurence weak?”
At that moment, his phone rang.
He stopped to answer the call. It was from Josh.
Serenity noticed a hint of hostility flash across Zachary’s eyes at something Josh said. She guessed that something was about to happen.
After the call ended, she asked, “What did Josh say?”
“Nothing. It’s about business. He can handle it.”
Zachary and Serenity would be returning to the company the day after tomorrow. It was the end of his wedding leave.
She did not press him further since he did not want to reveal anything.
It was probably nothing important if he kept mum about it. She could not be of any help when it came to his business matters anyway.
