The woman stayed in her spot, holding the baby. She was feeling slightly humiliated but mostly helpless. She knew that she could never replace Arianne in Will’s heart in this lifetime, not even when she and Will had already had a baby. This was a tragic fact.
Arianne let out a long sigh of relief after leaving the shopping mall. The cold winds refreshed her emotions. It was almost time, and Mark would be reaching soon.
She sent him a message to tell him that she was at the shopping mall entrance. His car soon arrived on the street across the road from her. She opened the car door and got into the car. The warm air in the car cut off the chill from outside. She smoothed her hair, which had been messed up because of the wind. “Where are we going for dinner?”
Mark didn’t reply, so she turned around and looked at him. “What’s wrong?”
He stared at the rearview mirror with an expressionless face. “When did Will Sivan come back?”
She was taken aback, then realized that Will was at a distance from them, leading his wife and child, getting ready to leave. Mark saw all of this.
“He says that he’s here to visit relatives,” she confessed in honesty. “He’s only been back for a few days and will be leaving soon. We bumped into each other when I was walking around. He was with his wife and daughter. His daughter is adorable, she can walk now.”
Mark didn’t answer and drove his car ahead. She couldn’t make out the emotions on his face.
Arianne was worried. She had been excited about tonight’s date, but she never expected this to happen. Was he angry? She wanted to explain but wasn’t sure how. It was as if there was nothing to explain.
