Arianne instantly froze and did not dare to move again. ‘We’ve only just had a big fight, yet he’s able to act all leisurely now. People have said that as long as men still breath, their brains are definitely filled with all kinds of inappropriate stuff. It seems like they aren’t wrong.’

Suddenly, Arianne’s phone rang.

Mark’s expression turned serious as he raised his eyes to stare at her. Obviously, he wanted to watch her answer the phone call himself. ‘I suppose Mateo’s the only person who would call at this hour, wouldn’t he?’

‘I suppose Mateo’s told her everything based on how worried she sounds.’ Arianne glanced at Mark before she calmly answered, “I’m all right, quite well actually. Um… About Mateo, could you apologize to him on my behalf please? My husband has misunderstood him. I hope he’s alright.”

Melanie remained silent for a moment before she said, “Arianne, I’m sorry… I know there are some things that I shouldn’t say, but… Teo’s my childhood friend after all. His perseverance for you is in the past already, so a hug really isn’t asking for too much. Plus, he didn’t harbour any sort of inappropriate thoughts. He just wanted to say goodbye to his past. I don’t expect Mark to be able to understand that since it’s only normal for men to be suspicious of everything. I hope this matter can be put behind all of us. Also, could you prevent Mark from going against Teo and the Rodriguezes, please? If he’s clouded by anger and doesn’t listen to you, I could go over and find him.”

Arianne hesitated for two seconds before placing her phone by Mark’s ear. “Melanie has called. She’s asking you not to go against Mateo and the Rodriguezes.”
