“How did someone fall from the building all of a sudden? The man and the woman were embracing each other when they fell, so they’re probably both dead, right?”
“Look at how terrible they look… They fell from so high up, do you think they can still be saved…?”
Each and every word that was uttered was like a sharp knife stabbing mercilessly into his chest. For a moment, Mark even found it difficult to breathe.
He had desperately hoped that it was all just a ruse by Mateo to attract his attention. However, the moment he saw matted black mane drenched in the sea of blood, he stopped in his tracks. In that instant, despair hit him like a train and he rushed forwards in a crazed state.
The onlookers did not dare to go too close, so they had only formed a circle at the surroundings. When Mark entered the inner circle, someone grabbed onto him. “They’re in a terrible state from their fall, so why are you trying to get so close? Don’t you know it’s bad luck to look at too much blood?”
However, Mark flinged away the onlooker’s hand and walked forward before bending over. He wrestled to pull Arianne away from Mateo’s grasp.
He hated the fact that even till death, Arianne was still in the arms of another man. Even if Mateo was in a completely unbearable state, he still wanted to punch him as hard as he could.
‘It’s all Mateo’s fault. If it weren’t for him, Arianne wouldn’t have died!’
Mark disregarded the strange looks and whispers from the crowd and painstrickenly held Arianne in his embrace as he said with a hoarse voice, “Ari… I’m here to take you home… Let’s go home now…”
Arianne’s face was completely pale. He could not feel her breath and heartbeat.
‘Why didn’t I stop her on the morning she was going to the funeral? I thought I understood her well enough and should respect her wishes. Being selfish would mean saving someone as well, wouldn’t it?
