“Are you sure? Is it really possible to rekindle old flames? Can you really like someone as much as you did after breaking up?”

Jackson had avoided private chats with Tiffany for quite a while now so she was a little surprised by the questions. She pondered over his question, but she only came up with an answer that was not really an answer. “Well, we were in a relationship for three years, and I’d poured my heart and soul into it. If we still like each other, then, it’s natural for us to be together. Since I decided to get back together, I’ll have to take it seriously.”

He finally smiled in relief. “You’re not exactly a star performer in the office so you resigning isn’t a loss to me. Don’t worry, I’ll happily sign your letter.”

She glared at him. “Should I be happy for you since you’ve finally gotten rid of a freeloader in your company? Alright, just keep your happiness to yourself, I’m… leaving now…”

As soon as the door was closed, Jackson tossed her resignation letter into the trash bin. He opened a webpage on the computer that exposed all of Ethan Connor’s crimes. Feeling conflicted, Jackson wondered if he should let her jump into the fire pit. However, he could not tell her anything. His hands were tied. On one hand, he had Mark. On the other, there was Tiffany.

In the end, he picked up the resignation letter from the trash bin. He took a pen and signed his name with a heavy heart. The two words that he had written countless times before took him more time than ever now.

When it was about time to get off work, Tiffany came to his office again. “I’m done with the handover procedure. Have you signed my resignation letter? I need it to get my salary from the finance department.”
