She crumpled the letter up and hid it underneath her pillow after reading its final sentence. There really was a picture enclosed with the letter, which showed Zoey’s husband’s battered and bruised face. It was a horrible sight! The contents of the letter were a little messy, but the main subject was clear, a blow to her very soul.

She carefully sorted out her train of thought. It had been a long time since Zoey and Mr. Harris had confronted her. Mark would always beat around the bush whenever she asked about her grandmother.
