A strong wind was blowing outside the window. Anika placed her pale,slender hands on her
lower abdomen,her eyes dull.
Trent told her that the doctor found out that she was pregnant!
The baby came at the wrong time.
Looking at Anika,who was with dull eyes and no will to survive,Clare forced herself to be
resolute.
“Anika.”
It was a long time before Anika recovered and turned her head to look at
“Clare.”
Clare’s eyes were red,and she used one of her old hands to gently brush the broken hair on Anika’s sideburns.”I have no kids,and I have always regarded you as my daughter.
“I do not wish you to be rich.I just want you to live healthily.
“How can a mother survive if her only daughter is going to die?”
Anika’s heart skipped a beat,and she saw Clare grabbing a fruit knife.
“I brought you to the age of ten.I haven’t been around since then. This is all my fault.I might as well apologize to your father now…”
Clare said and took the knife to cut her wrist!
Anika was startled. She wanted to stop Clare with all her might,but now she was too weak
to even get up.Her voice cracked.”Clare…No…”
Clare didn’t stop.
Looking at the scarlet blood on Clare’s wrist Anika cried hard and said.”I won’t do anything stupid anymore…I promise..Clare,please don’t…
Hearing Anika’s promise Clare stopped.

Her eyes were bloodshot.
“You have paid your debt of being brought to this world,Anika.
“We don’t owe your mother now,nor do we owe Joshua!
“From now on,you must live well for those who love you, for me,for the baby inside you!”
Anika finally decided to listen to Clare and live well for the sake of Clare and her baby.
Anika thought, “From now on,Mireya is no longer my mother,and I have no brother.
Clare and my baby will be my only relatives.”
Actually,Clare didn’t want to force Anika to make a decision in this way.
But she wanted to see Anika alive.
She thought, “Anika didn’t get to decide whether she was being born,yet she has to bear the
-called debt of being brought to this world.
What kind of mother would let her daughter die so as to repay her kindness?”
Anika was hospitalized.
During those days,Trent told her that Mireya had fled abroad
Anika didn’t feel sorry.
The same as treating Joshua,Anika had long wanted to repay Mireya. From now on,she
vould have nothing to do with Mireya anymore.
As for the baby,she didn’t want to tell Joshua
After all,the baby wasn’t planned.
She knew how much Joshua disliked her.
If Joshua knew,he would definitely tell her to get rid of the baby.
She was in the hospital for three days.

She asked Clare to go back,and she would join Clare to live in the countryside as soon as
e dealt with Joshua.
She was leaving the hospital..
On the same day,Valentin happened to be dragged down here by Howard Arellano,his
andpa,to know more about how the hospital worked. To his surprise,he saw
Anika and Trent.
“Anika!
“Isn’t she missing?”
Three days earlier,on the 15th,was supposed to be the day Anika and Joshua filed for
ivorce.
But after the 15th,Anika was nowhere to be seen,not showing up for three days.
“Why is she here,in the hospital?”
Rarely was Valentin not bored. The dean immediately sent someone to look into it.
Half an hour passed.
Valentin got all of Anika’s hospital records,and he was stunned.
He thought, “She took sleeping pills..and committed suicide?
Anika is pregnant?
Aren’t she and Joshua getting divorced these days?
How come she is pregnant?”
“Are you sure this is Anika’s report?”Valentin asked.
The staff who sent the file nodded affirmatively.
Valentin thought of the strange man who had been with Anika when she left the

He thought,”Indeed,I didn’t give the deaf enough credit.”
He wasn’t sure whose baby it was,so he hesitated to tell Joshua.
Eventually,he called Violet and told her about it.
He owed Violet. Now she was suffering alone,and he was the only one who could help her.
