He pulled her closer with a cocky grin. "Come on, Bert, do you think I'm scared of you?"

"Tyler, why'd you stop?" she teased, her voice a seductive whisper.

For a fleeting moment, Tyler felt the phone grow hot in his hand, a rare pang of guilt washing over him, as if he were caught in the act.

He quickly regained his composure.

"I'm not coming home for dinner. I'll be out all night."
