Dear Ex-Wife Please Be Mine Again (Christina and Alex) novel Chapter 192

Chapter 192 Madam Margret Alistair's POV

The door slammed behind me as I entered my room, the echo bouncing off the walls. My chest burned with fury, my hands trembling a s I unbuttoned my blazer and threw it onto the armchair. How dare she? Bianca Lewis, of all people, had the audacity to threaten me? The very woman I had saved from rotting in a jail cell?

I paced the length of the room, my heels clicking loudly on the marble floor. My reflection in the tall mirror mocked me...an image of poise and control unraveling at the seams. I clenched my fists and muttered under my breath, "She's too smart, far smarter than Daniel ever was."

Daniel. The idiot who had been so careless, so reckless. I thought I'd tied up that loose end neatly. A little poison slipped into his food by a well-paid security guard, and the problem was gone. No more liability, no more risk. It was supposed to be over.

But now, Bianca had waltzed into my carefully constructed world with a smirk and a threat. She knew. And worse, she had told others. My jaw tightened as I remembered her words:

"If anything happens to me, people will know. You'll be the first suspect."

The nerve of her! My breaths came quick and shallow as I paced faster, my thoughts racing.

"How did she find out?" I asked aloud, my voice sharp and laced with frustration. "Who told her? Who else knows?"

I stopped pacing, staring at the phone on my bedside table. My first instinct was to call Alex. He would know how to handle this.

He always did. But my hand froze mid-reach.

Alex.

I swallowed hard, the thought of my son piercing through the haze of anger. He couldn't find out. If he ever learned about Daniel...he would never forgive me. He was already distant, still seething over w h a t I had d o n e to his half-brother.

"I did it for him," I whispered. My knuckles turned white as I gripped the wood. "Everything l've done was for Alex. For his future. Why can't he see that?"

I closed my eyes, the memory of his cold stare flashing through my mind. He hadn't looked at me like that since he was a boy...

since the day he found out about his father's affair. That same disappointment, that same anger.

I r e s u m e d pacing, my heels clicking with e a c h step. I had to think.

I had to find a way to neutralize Bianca without drawing more attention. She had me cornered, and I hated it.

Her response still sounded in my ears. The way she had said she wanted Alex. She didn't care how I would do it.

My blood boiled at the memory. She wanted my son? After everything shed done...kidnapping Christiana, attempting to kill my grandchildren through that first fire outbreak at Christiana's newly built mansion. She thought she had the right to demand Alex?

"Over my dead body," I hissed, slamming my hand onto the vanity.

The sting in my palm grounded me, but it didn't calm the storm raging inside.
