Chapter 0119
Kaia POV
I was needed at the medical centre but I had to check on Father and Alora first, to make sure the children were safe. I also needed to prepare Alora. He hasn’t come this far to just walk back off the back grounds. he was here for a reason, whether he knew she was here or not.
I could feel my own blood boiling, the uncomfortable heating of my own bodily fluids as they run throughout my veins. He has just made me look weak in front of another alpha. An alpha that would keep on attacking until we gave up these lands, but we had come so far.
We were more than a rogue resettlement now, we were hope for another chance in life, a second offering to those that had been hurt, shunned away.
I enter the alpha house to find Father and Alora entertaining the children when bubbles as children fought to pop as many as they could. A soft giggling ambience feels the house, their minds distracted from the impending threat that had just almost knocked on the door,
They all stop as I enter, all faces turn to look at me….a haunting silence now descending upon the house.
“Luna? Where is my Mummy?”
“Luna…my Daddy…is he okay?”
So many
children rush up to me trying to find out if their parents would be returning home to them.
My heart breaks knowing I couldn’t update them fully until I had been to the medical centre, but Father would know already who has died and who has survived, I can already see it in his eyes, we have lost more than before…this was a deathly battle.
“Who’s hungry?” I ask out, I can’t answer them…I can’t tell them it will be okay when I can’t guarantee that So many of the parents will not be returning, so many before me were orphans now. With every child raising their hands, I usher them into the kitchen where I pull out snacks after snacks to keep them occupied whilst I talk to Father and Alora. I needed to take their minds off things and food seemed to offer a temporary option.
“What happened Kaia?” Father demands of me through the mind–link as I climb up on the kitchen worktop and reach for a box of crisps in the top cupboard.
“It was that same alpha that attacked…how many have we lost?” I sigh as I reply through the mind–link, that was also opened up to Alora.
“20 maybe 30.”
Goddess, that was too many and most will have been our fighters. We were now in a vulnerable position. We wouldn’t survive another attack…we would have to consider relocation.
“Father…we might have to think..”
“Don’t Kaia, don’t worry about that right now. You won, you’ve given us enough time to breathe again. Yet again you have done more than what is required of you Let’s see to our injured and bury our dead. Where’s Samson?” His pride in me is misplaced and I have to tell him what actually happened.
“He’s helping get the injured to the hospital. Father, the alpha..he…I didn’t beat him. He retreated.”

“Then you won, the dick knew better than to go against my well trained daughter.” His arms reach out to me and he pulls me into a strong embrace. I could sense his pride seeping out of him, I didn’t deserve it.
“Another fought my battle.”
“Samson…”
“No…did you not feel 2 alphas enter the lands.”
“…I did I just assumed that was the enemy, that they had other packs with them.” I’ve never once cursed at my father but if there were more packs, more alphas involved….did he really think I would return alive? “I wouldn’t have returned alive if that was the case.”
“Yes you would have done….” He is adamant, a low growl in his tone at me. He really believes I would have been alive, I would have been spared.
“Who are the 2 other alphas?” Alora asks me through the mind–link inquisitively as she starts making chocolate spread sandwiches for some of the children a young one now held on her hip. They had taken to her, like that had me.
“Do they mean us harm?” Father demands to know.
“I don’t know Father, I’m not sure…” I wasn’t sure what their game was, why they were both here.
