Chapter 0130
Kaia POV
A few days had passed since the attack, since Hector and Jude arrived. I’ve been keeping myself busy with pack duties and at the medical centre, as has Alora.
She’s been assisting me with physiotherapy sessions, supporting me in helping the injured learn to walk again. She’s been a complete asset in helping them rebuild their muscle strength before they are discharged home. They were opening up to her, truly accepting her as the alpha’s daughter.
I hadn’t spent much time at the alpha home, and I’ve noticed Alora put in more hours too…she was doing the same as me. Keeping busy.
After a rather grueling shift, we both start to walk back to the alpha house together. Things were starting to settle down at the medical centre and I needed to reorder supplies, the supply cupboard was running bare and our recent order hadn’t arrived as expected. I felt others at play here, something I needed to share with Father.
We were now eating into our back up reserves, which I had set up in the event of being blocked in during an attack which was starting to unnerve me.
As soon as Alora opens the alpha house front door, we both hear raised voices coming from Father’s office.
Alora looks to me, biting down on her bottom lip as she gestures for us to leave them alone…whereas, I am more intrigued to find out what the disagreement was about.
“Kaia.” Alora warns me in a low whisper as I walk past her and push open the office door.
I find all 4 men in a heated discussion, Father at his desk, the 2 visiting alphas sat down and Samson standing up….his fingers squeezing at the bridge of his nose.
All eyes fall upon me as I enter the room, a document held in Father’s hand.
“is everything alright?”
“Yes girls, leave us to it.” Father confirms as he places the document face down and hides it under a pile of folders.

Alora takes a step back, following Father’s instruction, whereas, I am more inclined to stay. If this meeting was about the safety of the pack, I should be present.
“Samson?” I take a further step in, counterbalancing Alora’s backstep, my eyes falling on my rather angry
Beta.
Samson wasn’t the type to let his emotions get the better of him, so why, in a room full of alphas was he fighting with his wolf not to shift…..
“Kaia, I ordered you to leavel” Father reminds me, some power held behind his tone.
“I heard you Father but if something has happened..”
“Nothing has happened.

“Actually it has.” Samson states.
“Don’t you dare!” Father growls at Samson, his dark heavy aura strengthening and aiming directly at the beta.
Samson is still a rogue, although settled with us, but he can fight Father’s command better than if he were a pack member. That’s the one benefit of being a rogue, no alpha, no hierarchy to follow…but it leaves your wolf lonely, it goes against our very nature. The desire to be in a pack, to be connected to others usually wins.
“Alpha Marc has been trying to hold negotiations with your Father to bring peace.” Hector comments, ignoring the growl that leaves the corner of my Father’s mouth.
“Well that’s good isn’t it?” My eyebrows furrow, confused with what was happening.
“Not when you hear the price.” Hector looks to me, a frown forming upon his face.
His eyes look behind me to Alora, his frown turns into a soft smile. I brush away that level of insecurity within me, there is nothing I can do. I just need to keep on my–path, keep within my own lane.
“Father?”

“I told you I was handling it my way.” He shakes his head in disapproval.
“Kaia, Marc wants you as his mate.” Samson states out loud.
“He has requested that you attend his pack today, for him to inspect you..” Samson continues looking at me with a warning in his eyes.
Inspect me, what does that even mean, what am I missing.
“Father surely for the sake of our people I should at least attend, I can take warriors…”
“No!”
“It will be no different to the other local packs I have visited for our cause. If he heard me, he might see our side of the story. Give him something to reflect on surely that would delay a further attack, bide us some time.”
“No..
“His reluctance was starting to irk me.
“Father…” I change our conversation to a mind–link, just between him and me.
we are in our reserves. The last order of medical supplies hasn’t arrived which means he has blocked it. I need to at least hear him out, see what he wants…Father.” I push on him to respond to me, my Luna aura rushing out of me…the wrong decision.
“I said no!” He roars out, his aura making my knees buckle. The full impact forcing me to drop to the floor in submission.
It wasn’t fair, I led the pack to war…yet I would always be at the mercy of an alpha because I was a female, because I was the luna. Always just in the shadows.
In my peripheral vision I see both Hector and Samson take a step towards me, my Father stopping them with a warning.

“Beckett…” Alora takes a step towards me, her hand resting on my shoulder as I seem locked in his command. I look up, his eyes daring me to challenge him again.
“Father, please..” Alora tries and succeeds. Her calling him father seems to break his anger on me, his aura breaking away from me.
