Chapter 0131
Kaia POV
I could feel my face slightly pinkened from my Father’s use of his command on me. I hated it when he used it on me. I had gone years without one being able to affect me, as a powerful alpha’s daughter Than could never command me or his parents, which they also hated.
Standing up, I walk out of the office, everybody else following me…Alora trying to push on my mind–link but I didn’t want to talk about it, I just wanted to be alone…I needed to be by the cliff tops.
Things were getting too complicated, too many strong voices were in this alpha house right now, I needed the peacefulness of the ocean waves and soft salty breeze.
Alora leads Hector and Jude into the kitchen, whereas Samson doesn’t follow. He starts pacing at the bottom of the stairs, his behaviour completely out of character and starting to concern me. He has never gone against Father, never. His own father a loyal beta until his death, Samson holding that same character trait.
So why now, why speak against Father.
“Samson?”
“He’s never going to make me Beta..”
“He will.”
“No Kaia, he won’t and I have other things I need to concentrate on.” He’s all over the place, his mind as chaotic as his footsteps.
“Like what?”
“My pack, the one I was at before coming here, they need me..I need to help them.”
“But you’re a beta….you’re our beta.”
“I can’t be a beta without a pack bond Kala.” He uncharacteristically growls at me and I hear the swift movement of the chairs in the kitchen move, figures rejoining the hallway from the kitchen,
His eyes glare to someone behind me, my eyes turning to see Hector mirroring that same glare. Had I missed something…
“Samson…” I whisper.
“I need time to think.” Samson’s hands go to his forehead, leaving red marks from his own roughness. “Think about what?” I take a step towards him, why was he so agitated. He must see that Father was only in talks, that he would never make me marry such a monster.
“Come with me…” He whispers.
“What?”
“Come with me, I’ll take you away from all of this. Help you to forget them and start anew. You could be mine…like it should have been.”

Chapter 0131
“Samson I…”
A low guttural growl vibrates from behind me as Samson takes hold of my hand and places it to his lips.
“I could help you break free… “His words were certainly hypnotic on my ears, tempting to hear.
To break free…
But I had a duty, I had pack members missing limbs, relying on me in the medical centre. Their only crime was following me to battle. I couldn’t abandon them now.
1 can’t leave my no
Samson, stay I know he will make you a beta….it’s just..there’s been a lot going
on.”
“I understand.” He drops my hands abruptly from his lips, a level of hurt in his eyes as if my staying was some kind of rejection to him. I go to reassure him when he turns and rushes up the stairs, my hand resting on the bannister.
“What had just happened?” I whisper out more to myself.
“I think you have just lost a beta..” Jude cuts in.
“No, he just needs time to calm down, to think. We are all tired, all getting over the recent attacks. They take their toll on us all…never fully relaxing always being in fight mode…this is his first time feeling this, he’ll get used to it…..
My words trail off as Samson heads back down the stairs with a hold–all draped over his shoulder.
“Where are you going?” I ask in confusion, he wouldn’t leave surely. He was my family’s beta. He wouldn’t leave us.
“I’m leaving. My other pack needs me too Kaia. I can’t keep fighting a losing cause.” His eyes flash over my head, his wolf channeling forward and I know instinctively who he is looking at.
“Please don’t leave…we need you.” My plea is desperate as I start to walk alongside him as he exits the alpha house. My steps break out into more of a jog as try to keep up with his long strides.
“Last chance Kaia!” He stops suddenly, turning to me his face avoid of any emotions.
What was going on, this isn’t the Samson I’ve known all my life. This person was different, why was he acting like this.
surely.
