Hector POV 

I watch Kaia walk away, the reverberating annoyed growl of her father continuing until he enters the alpha house and slams his own office door. Things had certainly escalated in such a short space of time. 

With both women at the medical centre Jude and I had taken a walk around the grounds, checking border patrol. When Jude and I returned to the alpha house a few hours later, we had heard a comotion coming from Beckett’s office. 

Bursting through the door, I found Samson threatening Beckett with a document. They had only just calmed down when Kaia and Alora returned. 

“Where is she going?” I ask Alora as she also watches Kaia walk away in the distance. She can’t go back to the medial centre surely. 

“Samson and her were close…she’s upset. I think she thought…” She sighs out as she continues to stare off at her sister’s fading figure. 

“What?” 

“That they would be chosen mates…” 

“Chosen mates?” I focus on Alora’s side profile before casting my eyes out also into the distance.

“She’s gone to the cliff tops, to her happy place. She spends hours there sometimes…I am in awe of her level of connectivity there. She says it reminds her of Mother’s pack. I don’t have that pack memory, that connection to her.” 

“You need to look into your birth, get closure on who took you.” 

“What’s the point, it’s in the past. I can’t change it. I’m more intrigued by this entwined mate bond.” “Entwined mate bond?” I chuckle out, is that what she is calling it now.

Beckett will need to come up with something. I’ve been to the medical centre, I’ve seen the low supply levels, the lack of trained medical staff. As a pack, we haven’t got another fight in us. Beckett will need to form an alliance and knowing how much Kala cares for this pack, she will accept.” She smiles sadly before walking towards the alpha house. Leaving me to ponder her words.
