Chapter 0191
Chapter 0191
Kaia POV
If Alora was in trouble, I needed to do something and couldn’t wait. I can see eyes of the guests looking at me as I hastily move through the crowd, whispers at my change in demeanour, excusing myself as I knock elbows, squeeze past males who glimpse down my cleavage from my closeness…stopping as soon as I make eye contact and growl at them. It’s a good thing Hector hasn’t caught them.
I head into the alpha house searching for Hector, Edmund catching up with me as I step over the threshold.
“Luna?”
“I just need to speak with Hector.”
“He’s in a private meeting with Alpha Jude.”
“This can’t wait Edmund.” He won’t stop me, even as he tries to reach for my arm I sidestep out of his way. I won’t be stopped.
Edmund quickens his pace, moving in front of me…his hand knocking on the office door before I reach it.
“Hector?” I don’t wait for them to refuse entry, I needed him and I needed him now.
He opens the door to me, any disagreement between us this evening disintegrating as soon as our eyes
locked.
He knows I need him, he can sense the pleading in my eyes.
“What’s wrong?” He steps out to me, his hand touching my hip in a comforting manner. Letting his touch soothe my rapidly increasing breathing.
“I think Alora is about to do something dangerous.” I close my eyes trying to recall what the Alpha had just told me…I had been worrying about Alora doing something foolish that for a brief moment, I had forgotten what he said about the sea water. About Hector trying to control me….
I take a step away from him, my eyes glancing behind me.
I wanted to leave.
“What is it?” He takes that step towards me, concern laced in his eyes. Would he have left me to die? Would he have taken my pack from my Father and me for his own causes.
“Kaia?” His voice is controlled, powerful as his thumb travels to my chin, lifting my face up to meet his eyes fully.
“I think she and Ezra are about to launch an attack…” I just hope we aren’t too late.
“What? How do you know this.”
“Just now one of the guests mentioned the lands being sacred..” I was careful not to name Alpha Zederick.
His jaw tenses…was my new source right…was my so called mate trying to control mé.

“You knew? This is what I’m talking about Hector. I need to know these things. If the pack is in danger would never have left them.”
“Kaia focus. What were you told..” Hector was watching me intensively.
“That they are about to launch an attack on the Shadow Rock pack…” I repeat what Alpha Zederick has said to me verbatim to verbatim.
“When was the last time you spoke to Ezra?” Edmund asks Hector.
“He calls every night with an update. He wouldn’t plan to launch an attack without informing me.” Hector declares.
“No, but if my brother believes in the cause, and he does…then he would think out of side…out of mind.” Edmund responds, and I don’t miss the way all three males look at each other. Their looks towards one another do nothing to still the racing panic within me.
I should have faced my responsibility the moment I woke up, I had been selfish. I had put Alora in a position she didn’t want. I was the Alpha, not her.
I had fallen into a trap from the moment I woke up, the mate bond trap.
I should have concentrated on my people, given them my all…fought Hector…fought his command more.
He wouldn’t have hurt me, he wouldn’t have killed me.. not if he needs me alive to control me.
Hector pulls his phone out of his pocket and hits a number to dial. Ezra doesn’t answer the call and I hear it click to the voicemail, causing Hector to growl down the phone.
“Is there something you need to tell me?”
“I need to leave…now. I look up at him as he hangs up the call and pockets his phone again.
“We…we need to leave…” He corrects me.
“No Hector, this is my pack, my fight.”
“If you think I will let you go alone…”
“What are you going to do…command me? Stop me from returning to my own pack… because I’d like to see you try…” I don’t wait for his reaction. I am leaving this second, and nobody, nobody is going to stop
I hadn’t changed, I didn’t want to waste a second. My orange dress had a split to the side, my thigh exposed to his touch as his fingers continued to draw calming circles for the entire journey.
I was torn, I didn’t want him touching me…but even I couldn’t deny how his touched soothed me.
It was as if I had split personalities….my wolf all for the bond whereas I was pushing back, fighting it.
