Chapter 0192
Chapter 0192
Kala POV
A crowd forms, even though it is the middle of the night. Word has gotten around, plus they must feel my presence through the pack bond,
Even now, more pack members come out of their front doors to my return for themselves.
I wasn’t prepared for what greeted me…
They are like the walking dead.
I can hear their whispers….
The Alpha has returned.
Will she accept us now, will she help us.
My heart breaks for them. I didn’t once think me not accepting the alpha position would make them feel rejected, make them feel unwanted. It wasn’t like that. I didn’t even know who I was, where I was
I just needed time.
Hector remains stuck by my side as I see her slowly arriving in the distance, down the gradient path….. flanked by a group of warriors. Warriors I couldn’t feel through the pack link.
“Who are they?” I ask Hector.
“Warriors sent by the Amber Desert pack.”
What, sent by his estranged brother’s pack. This was my pack and I knew nothing of the real risk it was under or the latest addition of warriors.
“You knew?” I seethe through a false smile as pack members look at me expectantly.
Again…his silence speaks volumes.
As she walks towards us, down the path that leads to the alpha house. It’s like there is an invisible strain upon her shoulders, something weighing her down…her eyes looking downcast she hasn’t looked up at me at all. Yet I can see how tired she is, the dark circles under her eyes.
She Halts in front of Hector and myself, the Amber Desert warriors standing just behind her like body guards.
“Alphas this is a surprise..”
“Is it?” Hector growls but I throw my arm out, stopping him from continuing…I would handle this.
“Alora….” Any anger I had at her has melted almost away. I couldn’t be angry at her, she looked awful…she was skinny, pale and exhausted..
“What are you doing here?” She looks at me half excited, half worried.
“I received word that you were planning to attack a neighbouring pack?”
“You did?” Her eyes dart to Ezra.

“Not by Ezra.” I correct her, he wasn’t the leak.
“Is it true?” Hector’s words rattle from his chest, his eyes staring at the Amber desert warriors. These would have been his warriors, had he been allowed.
“Maybe we should discuss this inside.” She responds with a tick to her tone at Hector, she wasn’t afraid to stand her ground with him.
I look to the pack members that have congregated outside, their eyes looking between my sister and myself.
“You, what has been happening?” I ask a middle aged male who was covered in fading bruising. He looked as if he had been in a fight but it was days ago. The bruising fading into a yellow before the skin adopts back to its original colouring. He, like the rest, looking like they were half zombie, half alive.
“Alpha?” His voice croaks under my rising aura.
“Speak truthfully!” I command at him.
“We have been bombarded with attacks, constant attacks. We have lost so many. Those of us that still stand we continue to fight but we know it will not be long…”
“Long?”
“Before we join the moon Goddess.”
“How many attacks?” I growl out my eyes looking back to Alora, my alpha aura starting to press forward even more, overruling any attempt of her trying to out rule me.
This was it, I could feel it.
This was my defining moment. I couldn’t go back to before, to not knowing now.
“Every day since you left, even twice a day…until..”
“Until?”
“Until the other day when Alpha Marc was on the border.” Her eyes finally look up to mine, guilt heavy on
them.
“Please don’t tell me you made a deal?” Hector steps forward, his aura was overlapping mine, he was the notorious Dark Phantom Alpha…and moments like this could see why.
The Amber Desert warriors close in around Alora, protecting her.
“No of course not. She’s my sister..I would never.” She gasps.
“Never what?” He growls back.
!
“Alpha Marc has paused the attacks whilst I
template his proposal but Kaia, please believe me!
would never trade you in. I only agreed to think about it to buy us valuable time, time to rebuild our defences, time to get medical supply in…to burry the dead.”
The dead.
Her words sit heavy on my heart. I had been frolicking around at banquets, trying to remember if I could
