Alora POV 

“This is crazy, we will get caught.” Freya’s already trying to back out of our agreement, her body bouncing on the balls of her feet. Her fingers were fidgeting, wanting to press the elevator buttons to go back down. 

“We won’t get caught. I just need you to distract the doctor somehow and I’ll sneak in. 5 minutes tops.” 

“5 minutes….that’s too long.” 

“Okay, I’ll be as quick as I can.” 

“I’m going to be in deep shit…” She bends over clutching her stomach, looking as if she was going to start vomiting on the lift floor. 

“Only if we get caught, and we won’t get caught. I thought you were the female beta?” 

“I am the female beta!” 

The elevator comes to a stop, a loud ping sounds as the doors open revealing a busy hospital floor. 

My doctor’s office was on this level and I had to look at my medical records, there had to be something 

about where I was born. 

“Don’t make me regret this…” Freya’s voice now enters my head, as I drop down before exiting the elevator and hide behind potted plants. 

The plan was for Freya to create a commotion, which would result in all the medical staff running to her aid…giving me time to slip into the doctor’s office undetected. 1 

People were being cagey around me, not being truthful and I wanted answers. One way or another. 

Hidden behind a plant I watch as Freya walks over to the floor’s reception desk, suddenly and rather theatrically, collapsing to the ground. 

I move quickly, knowing I could get caught out at any moment. Thank the goddess that it’s my doctor that is the first to aid the female beta who has mysteriously fainted before him. 

I gently close the door to his office behind me, listening out for the click and checking the commotion outside was still louder than any noise I was making. As I turn almost jump out of my own skin when I 

I find a figure standing in the corner of the office…a model skeleton. 

I go through each drawer, each filing cabinet, almost deciding to bail out early, this was a bad idea. Until the last drawer to try happens to be the only one locked. 

I frantically search his desk and windowsill for the key, when I find it in the most unlikely of places… in the teeth of the life size skeleton. 

I quickly use it to unlock the drawer at his desk, it has to be in here… it has to be locked away being the future Luna of the pack. I had drunk wolfsbane…he wouldn’t want nosey nurses to stumble across my file. 

“Hurry up!” Freya’s distressed voice rings out in my head, trying to hurry me up. 

“I’ve found it, 2 more minutes…” I plead as I start flicking through my own file looking for my birth certificate…anything that would give any details to me.
