Alora POV 

My eyes open focusing on the white ceiling of the hospital room. I would recognise those beeps from anywhere…I’m back. 

Everything was upside down in my life. The argument with Than had taken all my strength, the amount I had left. I was growing weak. 

Now that I understand why I haven’t been the same since reawakening, a sense of calmness has now embraced me. 

And that’s okay. 

I made that choice as a foolish 16 year old and I am now paying the price. For whatever reason, the Moon Goddess didn’t take me then. I’ll forever wonder if it was to make me live with the regret before finally reaching out to take me home to her. I’ll have a chance to say goodbye to Than. 

Not like before. 

I’ll also have the small window to find out what Kaia is to me. Than can’t hide me now, he can’t keep the 

outside world from me. 

“Alora?” I turn my head slightly to see Freya looking at me, a small sad smile on her face. 

“How are you feeling?” She tilts her head, placing a hand on my upper arm. 

“Sore, but I’m okay. Where is Than?” I blink, looking around the room to find it empty, except for Freya. 

“He’s gone off pack grounds, he was desperate to find something to help you.” 

Perhaps it was time for Than to realise nothing can save me, and going off pack grounds was wasting the little time we had left together. 

“What happened?” Freya asks as I slowly sitting up. I felt as I did before. I think I just grew weary from the same argument, from trying to fight Than’s command. 

“I don’t know. I just got so angry at him. For hiding this from me, then we argued and I think the stress overwhelmed me.” 

“Luna Medea has been informed and is on her way back…” 

“She is?” 

“Once she is here, you won’t have the freedom you do at this very moment in time. Except for you there is no Alpha family member on pack grounds…do you understand what I am saying.” 

I look to her, yes I fully understood what she was saying. This would be the only time for the rest of my life that I will have the option to choose for myself, to make my own decision. 

“You’ve heard?” I ask in a low murmur. 

“I’ve had a text. I’ve been given a possible location…if you want to act we need to do it now.” 

Planning a pack escape from a hospital bed was the last thing I needed right now, but Freya was right.

The moment Medea arrives, I won’t be able to leave. 

If Than is off site, as well as Zane…then I need to act fast. 

“Zane’s going to kill me.” Freya bites down on her lower lip. 

I refuse to let my actions cause more issues between her and her mate. Freya was the female beta and when I am gone, she’ll still have to support Than and Zane. Her life will be hugely impacted by the decisions I make today. 

“I can go alone…” 

“No, I’m too deep in this now. If we can get back what she took, then at least I might be able to remain at this pack with a shred of dignity still in tack.”
