Chapter 0095
Kaia POV
I had been pulling double shifts at the medical centre, as a collective we had done well to get our patients home and healed as soon as possible. There were a select few that needed additional medical attention but hopefully within a week or 2, they would be able to be discharged and rest at home. We lost a few but not as many as I had expected.
Thankfully the attack abruptly finished as soon as it had started. Any longer and our death numbers would have been far worse.
“Thank you Luna.” One of the nurses smiles at me as I help her lift a male patient on to the bed.
They hadn’t said anything in general due to not wanting to disrespect Father, but I could tell the pack as a whole, appreciated my leading them into battle and remaining to help with the wounded. I could never be the official Luna due to being Father’s daughter, but I could act as such…the role as I was born to play. Just for another pack.
“Why don’t you go home, I can finish up here.” One of the male doctor’s walks into the room to assess the patient that had just come out of another operation.
“I might, I could do with the night off. I’ll make some herbal lotion before I go.” The herbal lotion worked wonders on speeding up the recovery and the nurses had shown me the ingredients. Many of them had. been using it for years as rogues, without the access to medical pack centres, they used what they could and what nature could provide.
Once I finish for the day, I head back to the alpha house desperately needing a good cooked meal and a long hot shower.
Things had quietened down since the chaos leftover from the attack, but Father and I knew better than to get complacent. There was a reason the attack was stopped and I’m not naïve to think the alpha had a change of heart half way through the attack.
He stopped for a reason and we both knew this moment of peace wouldn’t last long. The pack here would always be under threat. Which is why I need to push forward with getting more treaty deals.
Entering the alpha house, I can hear Father talking to somebody and judging by the slight sour scent in the house, Samson was back. A flutter of excitement enters my heart at his soon return, Lthought we might have scared him off with the conditions of the land and the fierce attack on our grounds. But here he was.
And I’m yet again covered in dried blood, iodine and goddess knows what else. I needed to shower and wash off the remains of being at the medical centre, again..
“Kaia..is that you?” Father calls out to me as I reach half way up the stairs.
“Yes Father, I am just going to get changed.”
“Can you come here now, it’s urgent.” I roll my eyes at his request, just what I didn’t want. To be seen like this.
I hadn’t looked in the mirror but I’m pretty certain my hair bun was half down in some kind of frayed

hairstyle.
I push open on the office door to find Father standing up at his desk and Samson sitting adjacent to him, turning and taking in my appearance when I enter.
“One of the alpha’s you had been communicating with has offered to meet with us.” Father
“Great, I’ll get changed…”
“No, I will go alone.”
“But they will expect me, I’m the one that has been negotiating with them.”
“I’m not freezing you out Kaia. We’ve just been attacked and then another pack offers to meet with our acting Luna. I’m just taking precautions to protect you, that’s all.”
“Whatever you think Father.” Part of me wanted to scream out to him, to let him know exactly what I had been through.
For him to know how strong I am, how far I have come in strength, in my own character. He still sees me as that young woman he had to send away, tears streaming down my face as he put me in a car.
Maybe I’ll always be his little girl. Maybe I’ll always be that 16 year old to him.
A frown enters on to his face as he walks around the desk to me. His thumb gently gripping my chin as he lifts my face up, for my eyes to meet his.
“This isn’t about your ability to hold a meeting with them. It’s about keeping you safe.”
A soft smile enters my face at his words. He was right, this wasn’t the time for my pride to get in the way.
