“Hi. Lily nodded.

When the nurse injected Eleanor, she joked, “A colleague just met Elijah in the parking lot.”

Lily asked. “Hasn’t Elijah left?”

The nurse adjusted the speed of the IV drip and smiled. “Elijah is with Miss Taylor right now. They are perfect for each other.”

Lily glanced at Eleanor and hummed unnaturally.

Eleanor was eating expressionlessly with her head lowered.

After having the IV drip, Eleanor decided to return to school. After all, she had not finished her work for the competition.

Lily could not persuade her, so she could only send her back to school. “Call me if you need anything.” Lily reminded her.

“Got it.” Eleanor closed the car door and walked toward the school. After just a few steps, she heard a car horn behind her. Turning around, she saw Elijah’s car.

She wanted to ignore him, but Avery seemed to anticipate this and was already waiting at the school gate. Sensing her tough exterior, Avery gently urged, “Miss Brown, you know Elijah’s temper.”

Eleanor laughed self–deprecatingly, pushed his hand away, and was about to leave.

Avery wanted to say something but hesitated.

However, a figure was one step ahead of him and grabbed Eleanor’s wrist.

The familiar presence made Eleanor tremble uncontrollably, filled with a mix of fear and hatred.

She turned around and met Elijah’s displeased dark eyes.

There were not many people at the entrance of the university early in the morning.

Exhausted, Eleanor was pulled into the car by Elijah. No matter how hard she fought, something always held her back. Looking up, she realized he was teasing her as if her struggles were merely a way to get his attention. Too tired to resist any longer, she finally stopped struggling.

Elijah pulled her in front of him, lifting her chin to touch her flushed forehead. “Looks like you still haven’t learned your lesson. Why did you get discharged?” He said it casually as if he hadn’t been the one advocating for her reconciliation outside the ward

Eleanor looked at him, not understanding his behavior.

Seeing that she was silent, Elijah pinched her chin a little harder.

She was like a doll in Elijah’s hands. He could do whatever he wanted.

Eleanor felt humiliated. She gritted her teeth and slapped his hand hard.

The slap echoed loudly in the car, plunging the space into silence.
