“Our conversation doesn’t seem to be finished,” Elijah’s voice was cleep, his presence impossible to ignore, even in the face of the storm that raged around them.

Eleanor shuddered, the cold rain hitting her exposed skin, sending goosebumps prickling across her body. Instinctively, she pulled the men’s jacket tighter around her.
Under the black umbrella, Elijah’s eyes, dark and cold, narrowed with icy intent. The next second, her jacket was ripped off her shoulders and tossed aside.
Eleanor froze, eyes blazing with anger as she glared at him. “Elijah, That’s Jaxen’s jacket!”
are you out of your mind?
She made a move to retrieve it, but Elijah grabbed her wrist, yanking her toward him.
“Get in the car.”
Η
“Let go of me! I’m not going anywhere with you We said everything we needed to say that day during the interrogation. I’m going back to school,” she spat, pulling away from his grip and turning toward the storm.
As she tried to find Jaxen’s jacket, the wind tossed her around, the rain soaking through her clothes, clinging to her body in a way that left nothing to the imagination.
The outline of her underwear and the curves of her body were visible, and a few people with umbrellas whistled as they passed by.
Eleanor huddled her arms around herself, walking determinedly toward the school.
Suddenly, she was lifted off the ground and thrown over Elijah’s shoulder.
“Let go of me!”
“This is close to your school. I can’t guarantee your classmates won’t see you,” he said, holding the umbrella in one hand and her in the other, without breaking a sweat,
“You…” Humiliated, Eleanor climbed into the car refusing to look at Elijah.
A piece of clothing landed on her head, startling her.
“Put it on, Elijah ordered.
She didn’t move, her defiance clear.
Elijah’s face darkened, his voice cold as ice. “What? You’ll wear Jaxen’s clothes, but not mine?”

Eleanor bit her lip, standing her ground stubbornly.
Il put it on for you, Elijah said, lifting his hand as if to take control.

Eleanor froze, quickly wrapping the jacket tighter around herself, the warmth of Elijah’s presence engulfing her. Her fists clenched as she tried to steady her thoughts.
Was it her imagination, or did she feel the left side of the jacket damp?
Have I gotten it wet? Eleanor thought.
Eleanor ran her hand over the newly donned suit. When she squeezed, water dripped out.
She had only just put it on–how was there so much water?
She glanced at Elijah, noticing his left side was completely soaked, the shirt clinging to his body, outlining the tempting lines of his figure.
As the car drove, Elijah ordered the driver to turn on the heat, tapping a couple of buttons on the back panel.
The warmth enveloped her, casing the cold from her body. Even the seat beneath her felt
warm now.
She kept her head down, still trying to figure out what Elijah’s plan was.
Eventually, the car pulled into the same apartment she had been to before.
“Go take a shower, Elijah instructed, retrieving a pair of women’s slippers from the closet.
Eleanor glanced at them, and her mind instantly went to Zoey’s apartment–those were. definitely Zoey’s slippers.
“I’m not wearing those.”
Barefoot, Eleanor walked further inside, the cold floor sending chills through her. She hated the feeling, wishing she could walk on tiptoes.
Elijah raised an eyebrow, watching her with quiet amusement, but he didn’t say anything.
She hurried into the bathroom, sneezing twice before she could calm herself.
Remembering the upcoming competition, she knew she couldn’t afford to get sick, so she
rushed to take a hot shower.
When she finished, she realized there were no towels, no bathrobe, nothing.
