Divorced My Stepdad's Brother After Rebirth (Eleanor and Elijah) novel Chapter 8

Eleanor said apologetically, "Logan, I've troubled you. I'll leave as soon as possible."
"Don't talk nonsense!" Lily was displeased.
Logan patted her shoulder lightly. "The doctor said that Eleanor still needs to take medicine when she wakes up. Go pour a glass of water."
Lily immediately stood up and left.
Logan sat by the bed and sighed slightly. "Eleanor, do you have to leave?"
"Logan, I'll cause trouble for you and Mom if I stay. I'm already an adult. I'll take good care of myself."
"It's my fault for not being capable." Logan took out a card and stuffed it under Eleanor's pillow. "Don't refuse. You're a girl and need to spend a lot of money outside. The password is your birthday. Be careful when you go out. Call me and your mother if you need anything."
Eleanor said gratefully, "Thank you, Logan."
Logan looked at Eleanor and said for no reason, "Elijah is really strange today. It's too abnormal."
Eleanor asked in confusion, "What's wrong?"
"Your mother shouted that you fainted. Elijah actually rushed out and carried you away. If Jayden hadn't called for someone to send you back, you would still be lying in his courtyard."
"What?" Eleanor was so shocked that she tightened her grip on the blanket.
"Don't worry. Elijah said that he's afraid that you'll die in the Davis family and fall into disrepute."
"Okay." This was more like Elijah. Eleanor smiled bitterly.
Everything that happened last night felt like a dream.
Eleanor took the medicine and rested for a while. Then, she got up and packed a bag.
When she left, she avoided Lily. Otherwise, Lily would have cried.
When she walked out of the Davis' mansion, the servants kept their heads lowered along the way, as if they were afraid of being associated with her.
She stood under the porch and looked at the darkening sky.
The day was almost over.
Autumn came early in Eureka, and the evening wind was rustling.
Eleanor pressed down on the strap of her bag and quickened her pace.
The Davis' mansion was an independent garden-style residence. Although it was in the best part of the capital, Eureka, in order not to be disturbed by the outside world, the Davis family had already bought the land around the residence.
A private park had been built around it. Occasionally, it would be open to the public for activities.
But there was no subway, no bus, and even taxis were scarce.
No matter how fast Eleanor was, it would take her 20 minutes to reach the nearest station.
She walked under the streetlights against the wind. A few minutes after she walked out, she heard a car horn honk behind her.
She subconsciously leaned to the side.
Unexpectedly, the car stopped beside her.
"Miss Brown, please get in the car."
The car window rolled down, and a familiar face peeked out.
It was Elijah's assistant, Avery.
Eleanor was slightly stunned. She glanced at the backseat. Elijah's hand, which was wearing the ruby thumb ring, was gently knocking on his knees. He looked impatient.
It was Elijah.
Eleanor did not want to have anything to do with him anymore. She shook her head and said, "No need. Elijah, take care."
She tugged at her pack and kept going.
Behind her, Avery quickly got out of the car and blocked Eleanor's path.
With a polite and appropriate smile, he said slowly, "Miss Brown, please get in the car. This is also for your good. Elijah said that if you leave with your luggage like this, it won't be good for anyone if others see you. If you're unwilling, I can only use my method to invite you to get in the car."
Eleanor gripped her backpack tightly and looked at the backseat window. It was dark and he could not see anything.
But she knew that Elijah was looking at her.
Elijah's methods were famous in Eureka for being ruthless. In her previous life, she had also seen it.
If they really fought head-on, she could imagine what he would do.
Eleanor's body instantly lost all heat. Her entire body felt cold.
It wasn't easy for her to be reborn. She didn't want to challenge Elijah's anger again.
Eleanor nodded and walked to the passenger seat.
However, she was stuffed into the backseat by Avery.
As soon as she sat down, she smelled alcohol in the car.
She looked over suspiciously. Elijah's tall figure was leaning against the back of the chair. His eyes were half-closed. In the darkness, most of his face was hidden in the shadows.
It was dangerous and cold.
Elijah looked up and said calmly, "Leave?"
His voice was emotionless, but it sounded like something was stuck in Eleanor's throat.
It took her a long time to react to this feeling.
It was very similar to his tone when he punished her in her previous life. "You want to leave? It's not that easy."
Eleanor suppressed her hatred and shifted her position. Just as she was about to answer, her phone rang.
It was Lily.
Eleanor did not want to accept it, afraid that Lily would complain that she did not know how to seize the opportunity.
However, Elijah's gaze had already landed and he frowned.
Eleanor could only take the call.
"Eleanor! Are you trying to anger me to death? Have I mistreated you? Why do you run away from home?" Lily's voice choked slightly.
Every word was filled with helplessness.
She also knew that she did not have the ability to protect her daughter.
