Once again, Chloe found herself wrapped in the lively glow of fireworks. Strolling through the bustling food market, her mood had completely transformed. She had wiped off her makeup, letting her hair fall into a high ponytail with waves cascading down her back.
Connor glanced at the woman beside him. Even without makeup, her delicate features were striking, especially her eyes, which seemed to hold entire galaxies. Among the crowd of college students, she blended in perfectly, looking just like one of them. It was still the same face, yet she seemed like a different person, with a whole new vibe.
Connor couldn't help but feel a twinge of regret. In just five minutes, two college guys had already approached, trying to get her number. Naturally, Connor had stepped in to ward them off, making it clear she was with him. He boldly took Chloe's hand.
Chloe teased him, "You really think I'd fall for these young boys?"
Connor shot back, "Who knows? You might still have a thing for Trophy Boys."
Chloe rolled her eyes. Her Trophy Boy was none other than him, right? Was she competing with herself here?
Eventually, Chloe led him to her favorite barbecue joint. This place was a local legend, having been around the college town for decades. Chloe used to love coming here for their grilled fish. As they settled down, she confidently ordered and started introducing the dishes to Connor.
“This place is fantastic. I used to come here all the time. It may look small, but the flavors are genuine, just as good as any Michelin-starred restaurant. The owner even patented his recipe and opened hundreds of franchises across the country, becoming a billionaire,” Chloe explained with a smile. “But he’s a humble guy, still running this little shop. His son manages the franchises.”
