News of Ruby's hospitalization hadn't yet reached Chloe in Westbridge.
"Is she okay?"
"She's out of danger for now."
Tara let out a sigh of relief. "That's good to hear. But poor Chloe, inheriting this condition is just unfair."
After spending some time with the Moncada family, Chloe and Connor headed back to Greenwood Manor.
When Chloe emerged from her shower, she noticed Connor on the balcony, smoking again. He seemed burdened with worries lately.
She walked over to him. "What's been on your mind? Why are you smoking so much?"
Seeing her, Connor quickly stubbed out his cigarette. "Is something bothering you?"
He hurried to reassure her, "I won't smoke anymore."
Chloe chuckled, "Smoking's not great for your health, and the baby isn't a fan of the smell either."
Mentioning the baby brought a smile to her face. She was five months along now and could feel the little one moving around each day. It was a magical feeling, almost like she could sense the baby growing and changing bit by bit.
Connor's gaze softened as he looked at Chloe's belly. He walked over and gently placed his hand on it, his eyes clouded with a mix of emotions and pain.
"When's the next prenatal check-up?" he asked.
"Next Tuesday."
"I'll come with you."
