Tara's face suddenly grew serious.
"This..."
She seemed hesitant, as if she wanted to say something but held back.
Connor jumped in, "Did you find out she has a brain aneurysm?"
Tara's expression shifted dramatically. "How did you know that?"
Years ago, Leah had confided in her about Chloe's health condition.
But Tara had kept this secret, never sharing it with anyone.
Even now, with Connor being Chloe’s husband, she still felt cautious.
Connor, however, gently pressed, "Please, Godmother, I really need to know the truth. I understand your concerns, but you can trust me completely."
Tara studied Connor for a moment.
She had seen firsthand how much he cared for Chloe.
A man willing to go to such lengths to protect someone he loves surely wouldn't abandon Chloe over this.
Plus, his question indicated he already knew something.
Tara began, "Chloe has a small brain aneurysm in a very hidden and extremely dangerous spot. It's the reason she often feels dizzy and sometimes loses her memory. The doctors said surgery isn’t possible due to its location; they can only keep an eye on it. Her mom took her home afterward."
"But oddly enough, Chloe's aneurysm hasn't gotten any worse over the years. It hasn't affected her intelligence or memory. Every year, her mom secretly takes her for scans and check-ups. The doctors say it's only grown a tiny bit. As long as there aren't any major changes, she might live her whole life without issues."
"That's why we never told Chloe, to spare her any psychological burden."
Suddenly, Tara seemed to remember something.
"Why are you asking? Is something wrong with Chloe?"
Connor's brow was furrowed the entire time.
It was just as he had suspected.
