It was Fill.
"Boss, Melissa is awake. She keeps crying out, so we all can't sleep well. What should we do?"
A cold look passed over his face.
"You ask me what to do? You've been living the good life for so many years. No wonder you forget how you were trained."
Samuel's voice was emotionless.
A chill ran down Fill's spine.
During the past few years, Samuel played a role as a good father and husband, and his force kept hidden. Fill would have thought Samuel became good-tempered and kind. Now hearing Samuel's words, Fill realized he was so wrong.
"I know what to do now, boss."
"If you ask me such a meaningless question next time, you will be disqualified for leading the Sky Group."
After he said this, Samuel hung up.
His wife and daughter were still waiting for him to cook dinner.
Thinking of Nicole and Zoe, Samuel's anger and coldness dissipated at once.
He shook his head with a smile as he remembered Nicole got jealous of Zoe. Then he walked into the kitchen.
Nicole realized what she had done until she came back to her bedroom.
It was true.
She did get jealous of her daughter without feeling ashamed.
How childish she was!
But that was not a bad experience.
She sat at the table and saw that Daisy gave her a call, so she called back.
"What's the matter?"
"Ms. Bush, there's something wrong with our entertainer."
Daisy's words made Nicole frown slightly.
"What happened?"
"It's about Rebecca Rees. She was adopted. Not long after that, her foster parents had a son. The poor Rebecca has had a tough time since then. What's worse, they keep asking Rebecca for money. Rebecca never told us about this. Now her foster parents make a big deal by suing her. Reporters were packed outside the company. Anyway, our company makes headlines."
Daisy said with irony.
Nicole frowned slightly.
"Is Rebecca the B-list star we signed?"
"She is. When we signed the contract, I wondered why she chose our company, but I didn't give it much thought. Nobody knew she would be a hot potato. I've heard it said that her former agency terminated her contract because they were fed up with her foster parents."
Hearing what Daisy said, Nicole got to know how to handle it.
"Anyway, she is an entertainer of our company now, so we are responsible for helping her. Don't care what reporters say. Go find someone to check her bank account and see whether she transferred money to her foster parents recently. And plus, look for evidence that her foster parents treated her badly in childhood. We have to calm down and accept what happened. After all, more exposure is better than no exposure. As long as we cope well with this crisis, it will be a good opportunity for our company to gain wide notice."
To Daisy's surprise, Nicole saw the whole thing in a different way.
She felt a thrill of admiration for Nicole.
"Alright, Ms. Bush. I'll do it straight away. What about the public relations department?"
"Ask them to make no move and see what will happen next. If her foster parents are well-prepared, we should also be prepared. Do what I told you first."
Nicole hung up with a big grin.
If they got through this crisis, her filmmaking company would soon become famous. Nicole racked her brain for giving her company more exposure these days. She never expected that the opportunity would tumble into her lap. How lucky she was!
No one cared about the truth in the entertainment business. They just came to see the fun. The first principle of the business was to get enough exposure. Only much-publicized people could be remembered by the public.
Samuel saw his wife putting on a sly grin as he came in, so he asked, "Why are you so happy?"
"It's a secret."
Nicole didn't tell him the story.
She asked, "Is the dinner ready?"
"Yes."
"What dishes did you make?"
"All your favorite except for the coke chicken wings."
Samuel said so to please Nicole.
Obviously, Nicole was satisfied with his answer.
"Well, good job. Next time cook something Zoe likes."
"Alright."
It was difficult for Samuel to be caught between Nicole and Zoe.
Nicole went downstairs with Samuel willingly.
Zoe was sitting at the dining room after washing her hands.
"Mommy, it's time for dinner. You can go downstairs by yourself. Why do you bother daddy?"
"I don't mind bothering my husband."
Nicole showed off that she got married.
Zoe frowned.
"But I mind. If I were daddy, I would be exhausted."
"It is my husband. I can ask him to do whatever I like. It's none of your business! If you like, you can go and find yourself a husband."
Nicole took Samuel's arm like a child.
Seeing that, Zoe pursed her lips.
"Daddy!"
Looking at Zoe's sad little face, Samuel was heartbreaking.
"Mommy is only joking. Don't be angry. Come on, Daddy will hold you."
"Samuel."
Nicole glared at Samuel, threatening him not to hold Zoe.
Samuel looked troubled.
"She's just a child."
Samuel picked Zoe up in his arms after saying that.
Hearing Samuel's explanation, Zoe nodded in confusion and said, "Will the baby come back?"
"This is a secret."
"Secret. Alright."
Zoe nodded again and no longer dwelled on this question.
Samuel took the opportunity to say, "Zoe, Mommy lost a baby. Shouldn't you go comfort Mommy?"
"Can I give Mommy a loving hug?"
"Of course."
Zoe jumped down from the chair and reached out to Nicole with her legs cocked.
"Mommy, I'll give you a hug."
Nicole's heart instantly softened.
She picked up Zoe in her arms and said gently, "Mommy's heart hurts. Zoe wanted Mommy marrying someone else."
"But Mommy is going to marry me to someone else, too."
Zoe immediately retorted.
Nicole sighed, "I'm joking."
"I'm joking, too. Mommy, let's not compete for Daddy, okay? We should love each other."
"Definitely."
Nicole nodded hurriedly.
Zoe added, "Daddy has been with you all day, so can Daddy sleep with me tonight?"
Nicole's mouth twitched again.
She shouldn't be nice to Zoe. Give this little girl an inch and she'll take a mile.
Before Nicole was about to say no, Samuel said with a smile, "Alright, Daddy will sleep with you at night."
"Hooray! Daddy, you are the best! Awesome!"
Zoe gave Nicole a quick kiss on the face and jumped down to the ground. She couldn't wait to sit beside her Daddy.
"Daddy, I want to eat the chicken wings."
"No problem."
Samuel gently handed a coke chicken wing to Zoe.
Nicole was depressed.
How could they treat her like this?
Nicole had a hard time waiting her husband to come home. She would have thought that Samuel could spend more time with her now, but he ended up being stuck with his daughter.
"Darling, I'm injured. Shouldn't you sleep with me?"
Nicole fixed her miserable gaze on Samuel.
Samuel said with a smile, "Well, it is because you are injured that I can't sleep with you. You need a good rest. Starting from today, I will sleep with Zoe until the wound on your back heals."
Nicole was immediately bummed.

What is it with Chinese authors. The characters are slow, he finally opened his mouth, it took him so long just to say two words...the house keeper would have put the person out before he even spoke....is this really how people are over there..the characters are always lost in thought, they might as well live in their heads.....
