Alison's nose twitched.
She had never cared for being one of the Closes and preferred to be Tracy, the child who grew up in the orphanage and took the surname of the orphanage director. But at this moment, she knew that her cold heart warmed up.
"I'm going to get some water."
Alison turned around in a hurry and took the opportunity to wipe away the tears from the corners of her eyes.
Seeing his daughter like this, Clark didn't feel good either, but that was how the tradition of the Close family was. So many people had worked for the ancestors' teachings of the Close family for their lifetime, and no one would be willing to give up on it.
But Alison was his daughter.
She did not grow up in the Close family, and why should he ask her to carry on the ancestors' teachings of the Close family?
Alison didn't know what was going through Clark's mind right now, but she couldn't stay here any longer. So she hurried out of the room but met Ebby at the door.
"Alison, the results are out."
Ebby said kindly.
Alison didn't feel anything.
After all, it was already an established fact that she was a descendant of the Close family. She could not change her bloodline, so even if Ebby took ten more paternity tests, the result would still be the same.
She took the paternity report from Ebby's hand, but threw it into the trash without looking at it, then walked away.
"Alison, do you have a misunderstanding about me?"
Ebby looked at Alison and seemed a little anxious.
Alison, however, didn't say anything and just stared at her coldly, as if she was looking at a stranger.
Ebby instantly felt terrible.
"Alison, you have to understand that I am doing this all just in case. People on the outside are checking out the Close family pretty hard right now, and you used to be a member of military, so ..."
"Then wouldn't it be better if you just arrested me?"
Alison said coldly.
Ebby froze for a moment.
Through Alison's cold eyes, it was as if she saw her ex-husband.
Her ex-husband had looked at her with the same look after he knew who she was and what she had done.
It was as if all those years of their love were fake and all gone overnight.
Ebby's heart ached.

The readers' comments on the novel: Don't Try to Escape, My Wife!
The book is slow....too many words are wasted to explain...need a better translator.......
God I want to read the book but it's freaking annoying, Samuel Green, Nicole Bush, Lucas Bush, Jacob Brown in every line.....I hope this author grows...the book would have been okay but it's affecting my mood...
Does the author have write the full names of the characters all the time...it's annoying...we are reading the book, we know their surnames already.......
What is it with Chinese authors. The characters are slow, he finally opened his mouth, it took him so long just to say two words...the house keeper would have put the person out before he even spoke....is this really how people are over there..the characters are always lost in thought, they might as well live in their heads.....
