Don't Try to Escape, My Wife! novel Chapter 838

"What do you mean? I can't understand what you're talking about."

Martha turned her head away without looking into Nicole's eyes.

Nicole gave a meaningful smile.

"Really? Then why are you avoiding my eyes?"

"I just don't want to look at you."

Martha looked down and muttered.

"You don't want to or dare not? Or you feel guilty and can't look me in the eye? But why weren't you like this when you drugged me on the plane and made me unconscious?"

Cara was seated far away from them, but she heard it clearly and was shocked with her eyes wide open.

"Mrs. Green, Didn't you feel dizzy from the long flight?"

Nicole said with a smile, "I've flown to Bordeaux several times and never got sick, but why is it different this time? I know I am pregnant, but I have asked the doctor, who told me that I am in good health and definitely won't have airsickness. That's why I suspected you when I felt sick. But the plane happened to break down at that time and we needed to have a transfer. Moreover, Steve went missing. I guess you or your people took him away, right? Why didn't you let him stay by my side? That's because you are afraid of him sending a message to my grandfather and ruining your plan, right? But you might not know he had already done that while buying you a plane ticket."

"What?"

Martha was shocked.

She thought that Nicole wouldn't watch out for her at all because she was her aunt and Tim also had a good relationship with her. So she had been on the lookout for Steve from the beginning. Even when he went to buy tickets, she had someone spy on him. However, she never expected that he still sent the message out.

"How did you get in touch? Steve clearly had no access to the phone."

"Didn't you know the gestures used in the army? There's no need for phones and language. With just a gesture, I can know what he's saying. Besides, you've been in the sanatorium for so many years, so why would you bring your ID card with you all the time? Since you bought your ticket again, I've suspected you."

Hearing this, Martha got nothing to say.

"You actually know the gestures in the army."

"Samuel used to be a soldier, and he is also my husband and drill sergeant! So how couldn't I know?"

Nicole said this, her eyes filled with disappointment.

"Auntie, why? Why would you do something like this to your family?"

"Why? My family? Have your grandfather and mother ever treated me as their family? It's been so many years since I was kicked out of the Shaw's, but your mother never wanted to see me. I even went to look for her at her school gate and begged her to see me, but she was quite determined without caring about me at all. Do you think I can still take her as my sister after that?"

Martha spoke with pure hatred in her face, looking totally different from the gentle woman she used to be.

Nicole looked at her with sympathy.

"So you did everything for this? Not something else? You waited outside where Grandfather lived so that I could bring you to find my mother, didn't you? You know Grandfather sent me away and Samuel failed to find me there. You even know Laurel, or in other words, everything happening to her has something to do with you, right? You actually know everything, don't you?"

Nicole didn't want to think that way, but she wasn't an idiot. She had been with Samuel for so many years and could learn something anyway.

She was no longer the little girl who would be easily deceived and tricked. She was now Mrs. Green, the mother of her children, and the person who had got through life's ups and downs with Samuel.

Martha did not deny it, nor did she admit it.

Nicole sneered and said, "I feel sorry for Tim. He's so good. Has he ever truly known about you? Tim used to be a member of the military base, but I guess you forced him to join the army, right? Otherwise, he would definitely not leave you alone with your physical and mental state back then. What's your purpose of doing that? You could even use your own son, couldn't you? He suffered so much because of you, but what did you do to him? You also sent him away this time, didn't you? Because you're afraid that he'll see how you used me against my mother, my grandfather, and even the whole country, right?"

"You're too smart. Such a woman won't live long."

Martha suddenly said this, which stunned Nicole for a moment.

"Is that so? Are you not smart? By accusing Ballard of cheating on you, you've made yourself a weak woman who was bullied and crazy about love. You hid yourself in the sanatorium, but knew about what happened outside and even manipulated everything. How could you not be smart?"

"Yes, that's why I'm dying."

Martha smiled bitterly.

However, Nicole shook her head and said, "I'm afraid you just pretend to be poisoned. You will detoxify yourself after achieving your goal, right? You held us back with what Bella had done, but actually gained time for her to contact her family and plot something. Auntie, you're not young and innocent, but why can't you tell between right and wrong?"

"What do you think you know? Nicole, you're too young and can't understand something. There are some people I can't avoid in my life. I have to pay the Shaws back for what Tim and I have suffered."

"Then how about the country? Aren't you trying to have Bella do all this for the sake of terrorists outside the country? It's a military secret and I won't ask, but that doesn't mean I know nothing. Except for the national interest, nothing would have my grandfather, a retired old general, bother to act like this. Samuel also acted with him and temporarily shelved the plan of marrying me. In the beginning, I didn't know why my grandfather let Bella go, but now I've guessed it. It's just that I never expected the person behind this to be you. I know that it's all your people outside, but do you think you can still contact them, Auntie?"

Nicole's words depressed Martha.

"Don't look at me like this. I think my mother didn't see you for a reason. When she was about to die, you had no feelings at all. I'm so sad. I always thought that you liked me, but now everything seems to be your schemes. You approached me and even got me to like you by using your son's feelings for me. What an awful woman you are!"

Nicole was bitterly disappointed.

Martha had warmed her heart previously, but now broke it completely.

She couldn't understand.

They were family, but why did they have to fight against each other for something like this?

Martha frowned.

"What do you want to do?"

"I'll do what I should do. You're my aunt, but I'm just an ordinary citizen of the country. Auntie, I'm sorry."

After saying that, Nicole knocked her unconscious.

"Mrs. Green, what should we do now?"

Cara had never experienced this before, but she understood what Nicole said. No matter what, Martha seemed to be a bad person now.
