"I missed you too, Cathie!" Ryan caressed the girl before receiving the basket that Jack had in his hands. Giving it to her he said, "This is for you, baby girl. It has got cookies, cupcakes, and candies."
Catherine took the basket and smiled, "Thank you, Big Brother." Ryan's eyes picked on the specks of dirt that were on her elbow, he carefully dusted them off asking, "Did you fall again?"
Catherine poked out her tongue, "Floor likes Catherine..." Ryan ruffled her hair spolingly and looked up at the housekeeper; his tone, which was warm as the summer breeze just now, turned cold like that of glaciers all of a sudden, "You are supposed to be watching on her; why is she hurt?"
The housekeeper knew that the Young Master of the Nguyen clan was someone she couldn't afford to offend. "Mr. Nguyen... I... I...." She tried to reason herself but the boy's gaze and presence were so overbearing that she couldn't even spill a sane word.
Ryan signaled her to stop, "We are not interested in paying people for free; if you are given a job try to do it properly or find your way out of the mansion. Many can fill your place, respect the opportunity given to you. Believe me, it won't take me a minute to fire your face out of the household."
His words, glazed with a layer of frost, were too hurtful and straightforward to the woman. Maybe he was just a 10 year old but Miss Jude knew that none of his words was a bluff, rather he was capable of doing worse than just firing her.
"I... I am sorry, Young Master Ryan. This won't happen again." She sincerely apologized; Ryan grunted before turning his head at the girl. She was cracking the cookies into bits and throwing them at the ducks, possibly trying to feed them, "Come here little duckies. Eat the cookies..." The boy smiled before grabbing her hands and bringing her in. The housekeeper led the three to her bedroom and went down to bring them some snacks.
Catherine brought a bag full of building blocks and poured them on the mat; passing a block to Ryan she said, "Big brother, play with me."
Jack threw a mocking gaze at Ryan, even though the boy understood what he was implying at he still rebutted, "What?"
The boy playful shrugged before turning at Catherine, "You shouldn't call him big brother!"
Catherine was stunned, "Is that so... But... Why? He is big... So I should call him big brother, right!" She explained but Jack nodded in refusal, "He is not your big brother!"
Ryan threw him a dreadful glance warning him to be silent but Jack chose to ignore it as he was enjoying being cheeky. The girl was amused; since she was a child her father taught her to be respectful to everyone and address everyone as an elder brother or sister. What Jack was telling and teaching her was completely new to the little girl.
