"You still have other options, you can transfer to other hospitals," the director sneered.
He had taken quite a lot of bribes from the man, so he had to choose his side. All Carmen had done was to pay the medical bills, he hadn't received a cent from him.
He knew how to make choices in front of conflict of interests.
"My friend reserved the ward, and I think you've crossed a line by driving the patient out of the ward," Maximilian said.
He had heard of that some doctors are unscrupulous, but he never thought he would meet one on his own. He decided he should stand up for Carmen.
"I'm the director, and I have the final say here. You can report me if you want," the director laughed.
He was not at all afraid of being discussed or reported. He feared less when he saw Maximilian's and Carmen's dressings.
The two people wouldn't be able to bring any trouble that might rouse his attention.
The rich young man surely knew how to leverage his financial advantage. He threatened Maximilian and Carmen, "I'll give you 10 thousand yuan. You two should leave here now, and I promise you'll suffer if you continue to make a scene here."
Carmen gritted his teeth upon hearing that, but he had no other options. He checked his watch and found he still had time. As a child who grew up in a poor family, he knew he should never stand against the rich. All he could do was submit to the humiliation and walk away.
"It's too late to transfer to another hospital," Maximilian frowned and said.
Carmen sighed, "Then what we should do? There's no ward available in the hospital now."
Maximilian shared Carmen's feelings. As Carmen's friend, he felt obliged to help him. He patted his shoulder and said, "Don't worry, I won't let anything bad happen."
He had asked Connor for help. This hospital was affiliated to the Doyle Group. So Connor told Damen Doyle about this.
Damen felt so aggrieved when he heard the news. Somebody just bullied Maximilian's friend, and that was not something he would let happen.
"I've already called your hospital president. If you don't give us the ward now, I'm afraid you'll lose your job," Maximilian was trying to warn the director for the last time.
"Are you trying to threaten me? Who do you think you are? Do you even have Mr. Doyle's number? I think you've lost your mind," the director snorted.
He reacted as if he had heard the funnest joke. He had been used to threaten other people, and this is almost the first time he had been threatened.
He thought Maximilian was a fool. He would not be fooled by a fool's trick.
Maximilian didn't respond. He took Carmen's arms and told him to stay here.
Carmen was now in a dilemma. If he transferred his mother to another hospital, maybe she still stood a chance to get an operation and survive, but the transferring process will take half a day.
He knew his mother was in a serious condition now. She only had a few days left when they received the critically ill notice from the hospital.
He didn't know if he should do as Maximilian said. If Maximilian really had a connection with the president, there would be no need to transfer.
The rich young man curled his lips at Maximilian and said, "Director, he's talking nonsense and thinking too highly of himself."
The director touched his beard, looking at Maximilian and Carmen, and then he said to the rich young man, "Mr. Gold, I share your feelings."
