No one knew how long Wendy had stood there.
She muttered under her breath, “I don’t believe it. I will get back what we had. This isn’t right–we were the perfect pair.
“I used to like you so much… why? Why can’t things be like before? What’s the difference now?”

Her expression slowly twisted, the obedient facade she wore in front of Lucas completely gone.
What remained was a gloomy, unsettling darkness.
Meanwhile, Lucas had returned to his room.
As he passed by the guest room, he heard a faint sound inside.
He paused, a sense of unease creeping into his chest.
Pushing the door open, he immediately saw Aurora inside, taking a shower.
His eyes
darkened, Adam’s apple shifting with tension.
But before he could take another step inside, it suddenly hit him that Aurora had been acting strangely toward him.
This wasn’t how she usually treated him.
Why was she sleeping in the guest room out of the blue?
He thought it over, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t come up with a reason.

“Get out. I’m going to bed.”
There was no expression on her face, and her voice remained calm.
Lucas raised an eyebrow. Now he understood what was going on–she was definitely upset.
“Rora, what’s wrong? Weren’t we fine just yesterday?”
He took a slow step toward her, his tall frame casting a shadow under the ceiling light, making her appear even smaller and more
delicate beneath him.
But Aurora remained unmoved by his pitiful expression.
“Seriously? That’s my business. You don’t get to interfere.”
With a dismissive glance, she rolled her eyes and reached for the hair dryer, clearly not planning to deal with him any further.

But Lucas, quick to catch on, grabbed the dryer first and made a show of offering, “Let me do it, Rora.”
Aurora looked at him, completely out of patience, her expression icy cold. “I said no.”
“Just leave. Don’t waste my time here,” she snapped, brows furrowed.
The moment she saw Lucas‘ face, the image of him and Wendy in that room–so intimately close–flashed through her mind.
What now? Finished entertaining one, so he came to coax the other?
A bitter laugh echoed in her heart..
