After getting out of the car, Megan bounced away cheerfully.

Being alone in such a confined space, especially given how things had been lately, made the air feel heavy and awkward.

Lucas tried to ease the tension. “Ahem, since Megan has left, why don’t you sit in the front?”

“No need. I’m fine right here,” Aurora replied firmly, without the slightest hesitation.
