David nodded earnestly. “This time, our partnership will be stronger than ever.”

He wasn’t foolish.

David smiled. “You’ve always been efficient. Take your time.

“Oh, and by the way, feel free to proceed with the supply on your side. I’ll resume the supply later this afternoon.”

Aurora blinked. That fast?

“Alright. Thank you, Mr. Warren.”

As she walked out, there was still a dazed feeling lingering in her chest.

Was it really resolved just like that?

For a moment, it all felt unreal.

Watching her leave, David let out a long breath.

Thank God, it was finally over.

He was only worried about accidentally slipping up in front of Aurora and exposing Vanguard–that would be a disaster.

Later, Desmond called David. “So? Did Mrs…. I mean, Miss Walton get suspicious? You didn’t let anything slip, did you?”

He’d nearly said Mrs. Carter, but caught himself just in time.

A glance at Lucas beside him had his breath catch in his throat.

That one look nearly made his knees buckle.

The boss was still as terrifying as ever.

Just a single glance, and Desmond almost collapsed.

Thankfully, David hadn’t caught the slip.

“Don’t worry, not a chance. It’s all taken care of. I’ll resume supplying materials this afternoon.”

Desmond finally relaxed. “Good. From here on, just follow the normal procedures.”
