Chapter 275
The dark cloud that had lingered on Lucas‘ face completely vanished the moment he saw Aurora.
If anyone were to look closely, they could even spot the faint curve of a smile tugging at the corners of his lips.
He stood quietly at the edge of the bed, eyes soft as he gazed at her peaceful profile.
Warmth spread through his chest like sunlight after rain.
“Aurora, don’t leave me… okay?” he whispered.
He reached out, gently tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear, revealing her delicate features in full.
The affection in his eyes grew, slow and steady.
In that still, quiet moment, they simply leaned into each other–close, warm, and entirely at peace.
The next morning.
Aurora slowly blinked awake, stretching with a soft yawn. As her right arm reached up, it bumped into something
She turned her head with a frown and was immediately hit with a full–on beauty assault.
Lucas‘ handsome face was inches from hers, calm and serene in sleep.
Just as she registered what she was seeing, his hand caught hers with perfect timing and brought it to his lips for a light kiss.
“Morning,” he murmured, voice low and raspy.

That deep, velvety tone brought her fully back to reality. She shoved him away, still slightly dazed. “When did you get here?”
Lucas, eyes half–lidded with satisfaction, replied, “Last night, of course.”
With her in his arms, he’d slept better than he had in ages.
There was no nightmares and tension.
That peace lingered in his mood even now, softening the sharp edges he usually carried.
Aurora glanced down, checking what she had on.
She was still wearing the same pajamas from last night.
Relief washed over her in an instant.
Lucas caught that look and smirked. “What’s that about? We’re practically an old married couple now. If I had done anything…
it’d be totally legal.”
Aurora was momentarily speechless, unable to come up with a comeback.

She yanked her hand away, flustered. “Knock it off. You’re so full of nonsense. I’m going
Lucas let out a helpless sigh. “Alright, alright. I won’t bother you.”

Aurora climbed out of bed quickly, heading straight to change clothes–mostly to hide the flush blooming behind her ears.
No matter how many times she looked at him, Lucas‘ face still got to her.
That face was exactly her type. Every angle and every detail were pure heartthrob.
It was practically impossible to remain calm when facing him.
She took a deep breath, composed herself, and headed to the office.
It wasn’t until she arrived that she remembered–after all the drama last night, she still didn’t find out what Lucas‘ family
actually did.
She shook her head in frustration.
Megan really couldn’t be counted on for this sort of thing.
Next time, she’d rely on herself instead.
Settling into her office chair, Aurora started sorting through work.
