Chapter 444
Her beautiful eyes slowly closed…
By the time Lucas came out of the shower, excitedly heading to the bed, he found Aurora already fast asleep.
At first, Lucas thought she was just pretending, playing some sort of couple’s game with him.
But as he listened to her steady, gentle breathing, he realized that she really slept.
He stood there, momentarily stunned.
Lowering his head, he glanced at her, then looked helplessly at Aurora lying in bed.
He sighed and murmured quietly, “Fine. Let’s just say I owe you one.”
Left with no choice, he headed back to the bathroom.
The sound of running water filled the space once more.
Nearly half an hour passed before Lucas finally returned.
He got into bed and gently pulled Aurora into his arms, holding her comfortably as they slept.
Aurora’s brows furrowed slightly.
She felt a bit uncomfortable at first, but the familiar scent beside her and the secure embrace eased her.
Her frown gradually softened.
She found a cozy spot on her own, curled up in Lucas‘ arms, and drifted off to sleep.
Lucas couldn’t help but feel a quiet wish in his heart.
If only life could stay like this–quiet, uninterrupted, just the two of them wrapped in each other’s warmth.
No noise and chaos, just this simple, steady peace.
That, to him, was happiness.
The next day.
When Aurora woke up, she saw Lucas lying beside her.
In that instant, she gave her forehead a light smack, feeling like she had forgotten something important last night.
Her movement stirred Lucas from sleep.
He lazily opened one eye to look at her, then casually reached out and pulled her back into his arms.
“Sieep a little mre. It’s still early.”
His voice carried a lazy rasp, laced with a teasing undertone, as he hadn’t fully woken up yet.
Combined with that infuriatingly perfect face of his, Aurora nearly lost her composure.
What a sin, truly a sin.
She gave Lucas‘ chest a gentle push. He responded with a low hum from deep in his throat and didn’t budge au inch.
Aurora seemed to have discovered something amusing. She poked Lucas‘ abs again.
His lower abdomen tensed instantly, and he grabbed the mischievous hand in one swift motion.
“It’s too early for this, Rora. Don’t stir things up.”
Feeling the rising heat where their skin met, Aurora immediately understood what he meant.
She quietly lay still and resigned herself to another round of morning sleep beside him.
Lucas cracked his eyes open just a sliver to look at her, a trace of regret flashing through them.
She wasn’t usually this obedient.
With nothing left to justify further action, he simply pulled her into his arms and actually went back to sleep..
As for what they had agreed to the night before–neither of them got around to it.
By the time Aurora’s alarm went off, Lucas was already gone.
