Allison thought for a long time and couldn’t think of a good way to mention it.
But no matter what happened, Professor Gibson’s birthday was an important day. Since she had been officially married to Alexander, going out for a meal as a family should not be a big issue.
She should simply ask Alexander and seek his opinion. Allison sighed after making her decision and only after this weight was off her chest was she able to fall asleep. It was already the next afternoon when she saw Alexander. Allison was bored to tears when she heard the sound of a car approaching. She ran to the window and saw a familiar car downstairs.
Before long, there was some noise along the corridor leading to the study. Allison pushed open the door and just as she reached the staircase, she saw Lara serving a freshly brewed pot of tea.
Allison asked softly, “Lara, is Alexander back?”
“Yes, master just came back. But he doesn’t look pleased. He looked upset.”
“Ah?”
Allison became nervous immediately. She was waiting for Alexander to come back to tell him about her father’s birthday arrangements. But she didn’t expect that he would be having a foul mood today.
Lara was puzzled and asked, “What’s the matter, missus?”
“Nothing, nothing.” Allison said. Her eyes looked at the serving tray and took it over from Lara, “Lara, give me the pot of tea. I’ll serve them to him.”
“Okay, be careful.”
After taking over the tray, Allison took a deep breath and walked to the study.
No matter what, this issue cannot be delayed. Jennifer had already booked the restaurant and had already sent her the address. If she didn’t resolve it on her end, then she will be severely scolded by Jennifer.
Allison knocked on the door.
“Come in.”
When she heard the man’s voice, Allison picked up her courage and went into the room. Alexander was sitting at the desk and looked sternly into the computer display. His expression was much colder than usual.
Allison served the tea to his desk and said softly, “This tea is brewed by Lara. I’m here to bring it to you.”
“Okay.”
Alexander calmly answered but didn’t raise his head.
Allison paused, poured the tea for him, and then asked, “Today… you must be tired from work.”
“It’s okay.” Alexander said warmly and looked at her, “Have you changed the dressing on your neck?”
“Oh… yes.”
The man’s sudden show of concern took her by surprise, “Erm…”
Alexander looked at her, “What else is there?”
Allison forced a smile and faked a casual query, “Nothing important. I just wanted to chat with you. I came for several days already and have never seen your parents. I’m actually rather curious about your parents…”
Before she could finish, she realized that Alexander’s expression had significantly darkened. She then stopped and felt strangely guilty, hesitated before asking, “I… did I say something wrong?”
