Enemies Become Mates novel Chapter 31

She took something out from her pockets and held it above her head. It registered what it was and I tackled her to the floor. It was too late as a bright flash lit up the room blinding me. I felt her fist connect with my face and I still couldn't see anything. I grabbed her by the neck and then I felt a sharp pain on the side of my torso. I shook my head to clear my vision and when I did I looked down to see a knife stuck on the side of torso. I gritted my teeth and faced her. I put more force on her neck and she grabbed my wrist trying to get free.

"Who are you working for?" I seethed at her. Elliot was holding head in pain and he looked over towards us.

"As if I'll tell you." She gasped for air and I saw a white pill in her mouth. She closed her mouth shut and I tried to open her mouth up with my hand I did manage to. However it was late and she was foaming by the mouth. I clicked my tongue and got off of her and grabbed the knife in my hand. I pulled it out and I seethed in pain. A silver knife, this won't heal nicely at all.

"I'm going to kill whoever did this!" Elliot yelled and I saw his eye flicker brown to silver.

"Hey we're here!" My brothers ran in with Rose besides them. At least she's safe that's good to know. I laid down on the floor and pointed at Elliot.

"Calm him down, that flash bang disoriented him." I gestured toward him. Toby and Jay listened to me and went to Elliots aid.

I tried to focus on my wound and attempted to heal it but it was a failure. I was losing blood and the silver knife didn't help at all. I pressed my hand against the wound trying to slow down the bleeding.

"This mission was a failure by the way." I said before completely blacking out.

--Cassie's POV-

"Are you fucking insane? You could've died!" Toby scolded me as he shoved cereal in my mouth.

Nagging that's all I hear the moment I woke up from my injuries. Just plain nagging, can't an injure girl have some peace. I chewed on my cereal and waved Toby off and he just look like he got more mad.

"And I didn't. I'm fine, and I saved a life" I said but it was kind of unclear from the cereal in my mouth.

"Cassie at least put your life first before others!" He snapped. I was going to respond until a knock came from my door.

"Come in." I said. The door opened to reveal my grandma, she gave me a tight smile and I looked away.

"How are you doing?" She took a seat on the edge of the bed.

"Good but it still hurts though." I said.

"Are you ok? Are you healing fine?" He asked as he walked up towards me.

"Yes I'm fine, my grandma helped on healing me. Are you ok after that flash bomb?" I asked him.

"Yeah I am. It just disoriented me a bit that's all." My mouth formed an 'O' and I nodded my head.

Now we were just standing there not sayin anything to each other. What do I say, my mind was literally going blank. I fiddled with my thumbs and grabbed his wrist. He looked at my hand then at my face.

"Um I guess we're even now, since you helped me out with my heat thing." I blurted out. Elliots quirked up an eyebrow and he looked confused.

"No I think you almost dying definitely outweighs how I helped you during your heat." He pointed.

"Just accepted it and it's not the first time I got stabbed with a silver knife trust me." I huffed out. Now he was just giving me a weird look and I let go of his wrist. I went behind my door and peeked from behind it.
