Skylar's P.O.V.

I lay in bed, my mind never at peace, so I simply left the bedroom and walked across the foyer to the living room without turning on the lights.

As a consequence, I had only taken a few steps when I saw red sparks flickering in the darkness. It was only then that I belatedly noticed that there seemed to be a faint smell of smoke in the air.

My footsteps stopped for a moment, and I gave a tentative cry, "Lukas!"

Lukas hummed slightly.

My heart suddenly jumped into my chest and I tried my best to act as if nothing had happened. "Why aren't you turning on your lights?"

Who are you trying to scare to death by smoking in the living room with the lights off?

Lukas was silent for a moment and then spoke slowly.

He must have smoked a lot and his voice was hoarse, "If you want, I'll turn on the floor lamp for you!"

I heard that he was about to turn on the light and said hastily, "Don't turn on the light!"

Maybe there are some words you cannot say when the lights are lit.

Since Lukas is also home, I have no plans to do any more work alone.
