Chapter 448 It’s My Turn to Chase You

Breenda said it to Joans, but actually, she was telling Bentley that she disagreed.

Bentley’s expression changed slightly.

Joans was a person who could read people’s expressions, so he immediately said, “Breenda, getting engaged doesn’t mean getting married. If you get engaged, you can start dating. When you are willing to get married, you can get a marriage certificate. It’s okay.”

“But I don’t want to be in a relationship.”

She said firmly, “For more than a year, there have been too many troublesome things. I don’t have the mood. I just want to work hard and be the successor of the Callis Group.”

Breenda turned and went upstairs, leaving the living room without looking back.

As the sound of slamming the bedroom door came from upstairs, the living room fell silent again.

Joans and Audrey looked at each other, then they looked at Bentley.

Bentley lowered his head and seemed to be deep in thought. No one could read his emotions.

Audrey cautiously asked, “Mr. McGraw, do you love Breenda?”

“Yes. But my previous behavior hurt her. She wouldn’t accept me, and I understand,” Bentley said softly.

Audrey said, “Breenda has been spoiled by us since she was a child. She is very stubborn. If you love her and want to be with her, I can help you persuade her.”

Bentley thought about it and felt embarrassed since it was too troublesome. “Forget it. This is a matter between me and her. If you go to persuade her, I am afraid she will hate me even more. If she is unwilling to get engaged, I can wait for her.”

“She has been waiting for me for a year. This time, it’s my turn to chase her for a year.”

Hearing his words, Audrey and Joans were both gratified.

Audrey added, “Don’t worry, Mr. McGraw. I won’t go to persuade her, but I can help you create an opportunity to get along with her.”

Bentley looked up at Audrey.

This time, he did not refuse.

A few hours later, Audrey knocked on Breenda’s door.

“Breenda, it’s time for dinner. Hurry up, everyone is waiting for you.”

“I got it.”

Breenda was sitting in front of the computer. She finished the last sentence of the project plan, rubbed her sore shoulder, got up, and went downstairs.

She did not notice anything strange until she reached the dining room.

On the long dining table, only Bentley was there.

Audrey and Joans were nowhere to be seen. Moreover, there were candles on the dining table.

Obviously, they prepared all these to give her and Bentley a chance to have a candlelight dinner.

It seemed that her parents cared so much about her marriage.

Breenda shook her head and decisively turned away.

Seeing that she was leaving, Bentley immediately got up and grabbed her wrist.

“Breenda, you should have seen through your parents‘ good intentions. Why not talk with me?”

“We have nothing to talk about,” Breenda said expressionlessly.

She wanted to leave, but Bentley held her wrist tightly.

Bentley looked at the hand that held her wrist and smiled slightly, “Last time, you came to Salt Lake

City’s hospital to look for me, and told me about your parting. I saw that you were sad and wanted to reach out to comfort you, but I didn’t. This time, I am very glad that I didn’t let go of your hand.”

Breenda sighed, “Is there any meaning in saying all this now?”

Bentley let her turn around to look at him, saying seriously, “Herbert is not a good man. I helped you cancel your engagement that you don’t like. Now you can choose at will. Is that okay?”

When it came to this matter, Breenda was annoyed, saying, “Bentley, did you just want to humiliate me by asking the police to take Herbert to the Callis family to sarcastic me? You want me to know that other than you, other men will just look down upon me, right? And I, the daughter of the Callis family, am extremely cheap, right?”

As she complained, her tears fell down her cheeks.

At work, Breenda had always been the image of a strong woman in order not to be bullied. After a long time, her personality gradually became stronger.
