True love should be one where both parties loved each other. Anything less than that would just be torture.
On the upstairs, Henry looked gloomily at the slender figure in the parking lot below. Was she really that downhearted when Declan left?
"Luz Boone, did you ever think about the people you left behind?" he thought bitterly.
Downstairs, Luz couldn't help but sigh. Whether she was willing or not, she still hurt Declan. Feeling guilty, she went back upstairs. Before she sat down, Linda knocked on her door again.
"Secretary Boone, Mr Maynard asked me to hand this report to you. He said that the contents were not in line with his expectations. He asked you to make a new plan for him, and hand it to him before you get off work today."
Linda's usually calm face showed a slight awkwardness as she relayed the instructions. She really did her best be tactful, but she was still scared when she remembered Mr Maynard's dark expression when he threw the document on her desk.
Luz was stunned for a moment and immediately understood. "Okay, I know. Thank you, Linda."
"You're welcome. If there's nothing else, I'll go out."
The door of the office was closed again. She glanced at the folder on the table. She had analysed the plan for several days and had several discussions with various departments before coming up with this plan. It might not have been perfect, but it was definitely up to expectations.
"I'll change it. It's not a big deal."
She knew that Henry was making a nuisance for her on purpose, but she couldn't do anything about it since he was her boss. The boss was always right.
Just as she was about to get down to work, her phone rang. She relaxed when she saw the caller ID. "Why are you calling me?"
Mia's law firm was small, but there seemed to be a lot of work to do all the time. It was a sign that divorce was quite popular in a modern society.
"Congratulations on becoming Mrs Maynard again seven years after your divorce." Mia's teasing voice came from the other side. She deliberately emphasized the word Mrs. Maynard, not caring what it did to her on the other end.
"You called me to annoy me, didn't you?"
Others might not know, but her best friends should know better. If she wanted the title of Mrs Maynard, she wouldn't have gotten a divorce just before going into labour and bring her child to the US alone.
"Of course not, as your best friend and divorce lawyer, I just want to check in on you to see if you still need my services. Maybe one day you might get hit on the head and decide to remarry and then re-divorce Henry Maynard. I can give you some bulk discounts on my services if that happens."
"Mia, can you still talk nicely?" She raised her voice a little. If she went on like this, she was really not sure whether she would explode.
"Alright, I'll stop. Seriously, what is Henry Maynard trying to do? Is he still in love with you?"
"We're never ever getting back together."
Luz interrupted Mia quickly before she could say more. If she could have her way, she would move to the other side of the world so that she and Henry would be as far away from each other as possible.
