The old lady picked up her phone, her face full of worry, and called Luz.

"Sorry, the number you have called is unavailable. Please try again later."

"What's going on? Her phone is turned off." The old lady looked at her mobile phone worriedly. Since she came back, Luz had rarely turned off her phone.

"Who knows what she's doing, mother. Maybe she turned off her phone because it's not convenient for her to answer the phone."

Maddison seized the opportunity to badmouth Luz. She glanced provocatively at Henry. Her tone implied that Luz was out flirting with other men.

"What nonsense are you talking about?"

Maddison shut her mouth when the old lady glared at her, but secretly, she was pleased. She hoped that Luz was fooling around with another man. See how pleased the old lady would be with her if she really did!

"Henry, is Luz still at the company working overtime?"

In the past few days, she had seen the awkward atmosphere between the two of them. Maybe they had argued, and Luz was avoiding Henry on purpose.

"No."

Henry was a little annoyed. She had left the company in a hurry after work just now. He knew that she wasn't so hardworking.

The old lady became even more anxious when she heard that. She called Luz's phone several more times, but it still remained turned off, so she looked towards her great-grandson. "Logan, do you know the phone number of your mother's friends?"

"Let me try."

Logan was also feeling worried. He knew his own mother well. She would normally come home before seven o'clock.

He took his great-grandmother's phone from her and swallowed nervously as he glanced at Henry before typing in a number.

"Hey, Uncle Declan, are you with Mommy?"

As soon as he heard the name "Uncle Declan", Henry narrowed his eyes. Even this brat knew to call Declan first, which showed how close he and Luz were.

"Oh, it's okay. Let me try calling my godmother. They might be together."

The little fellow hung up the phone in disappointment and dialled his godmother's number.

"Sorry, the number you have dialled is unavailable. Please try again later."

"Hey, her phone is turned off too."

Logan frowned and stared at the phone. His godmother's phone was always reachable. She never turns off her phone.

Henry's narrowed eyes widened and he frowned as well. Mia James' phone was also turned off?

"Henry, do you think Luz is in danger? Otherwise, why did she turn off her phone for no reason?"

The old lady's heart was thumping wildly. She had a feeling that something bad had happened.

"Grandma, don't worry. She may come back herself after a while."

Although he was a little worried, he didn't want to show his concern for that woman.

A while later, Logan tried calling his mother and his godmother again, but their phones were still turned off.

Henry suddenly lost his patience, which rarely happened. He stood up and went upstairs while calling his subordinates.

"Boss?"

"Find out where Mia's car is now and who's with her. I want an answer in ten minutes."

The police couldn't pin this on him even if they wanted to.

"One of those hostages might be Luz Boone."

Henry's expression was dark. Lucas was stunned by the revelation. That was serious news indeed.

The phone rang, and Henry immediately picked up the phone. After hearing his subordinate's report, his expression darkened further.

"Don't tell me it's really Luz Boone."

Although Lucas couldn't hear what the person on the other end of the phone said, he could guess from the expression on his face.

Damn it. Of all the people they could have taken hostage, why did they choose Luz Boone?!

As Henry's childhood friend, he knew how important that woman was to Henry.

"If anything happens to her, you're in big trouble."

Henry hung up the phone with a cold look in his eyes. Lucas felt aggrieved. What had he done to deserve such bad luck lately?

"Don't worry, I'll get some people on the case right now. We'll find her."

Although he felt aggrieved, he was still efficient. He didn't do anything against the law, but it didn't mean that he didn't have connections on the dark side. He hoped that the damn drug dealer didn't do anything, otherwise this wouldn't end well for him.

With a cold expression on his face, Henry also ordered his men to quickly locate Luz. "This stupid woman," he thought. "Why did she have to get caught up with drug dealers?"

At the same time, Luz and Mia were huddled together in a moving car. They had tape over their mouths so that they couldn't make any noise. 

"Boss, I think we've got the police off our tails." The man driving the car said gleefully.
