Expert Down The Mountain Chapter 32
Archer alone was already enough to stir up panic amongst the staff members of Wolfenden Corp. Now that Faris, Archer’s superior, was here, perhaps it would be better off for Wolfenden Corp. to venture into other businesses from now on.
Sadie’s face was ghastly pale. Faris was Archer’s immediate superior! Archer had actually invited a bigshot like Faris to the company. Was he trying to get her killed? The expressions of the leaders from the other departments changed drastically as well. Some expressed their panic, fear, and displeasure.
The chief of the human resources department, River, could not refrain from looking toward. Miles and wondered whether this was Miles’ doing.
River wondered how Archer could be so influential that he could even alert Faris. Also, he wondered what Sadie had done last night to infuriate Archer to this extent.
Meanwhile, River thought to himself, ‘Don’t ever offend Miles.
‘Perhaps Sadie will need to retire from her position after today. Don’t ever think about working in this field again from now on!
‘No one from the board of directors is going to back up Sadie anymore from now on!’
Miles was pleasantly surprised in his heart. ‘It seems that the little b*tch has offended Archer badly. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have alerted Faris.?
At the thought of this, he said coldly, “Look at what you did, Ms. Wolfenden!”
He glanced at the other leaders of different departments and said solemnly, “Everyone, Mr. Cook is here in person, so this is not a small matter for sure.”
“However, as the CFO of this company, it’s only natural that I don’t want the company to fall because of personal reasons!
“I will figure out a way to appease Mr. Cook. On the other hand, this matter must be reported to the board of directors so that the board of directors can rule a punishment for Ms. Wolfenden!
“By then, I seek your help not to look the other way but recount the incident in its true form to the board of directors!”
River was the first to respond by saying, “Don’t worry, Mr. Lawson, our human resources department won’t give a false account. We will tell the whole truth for sure!”
“The planning department too!” The leader of the planning department chimed in as well in haste.
Miles was very proud of himself in his heart, but his expression appeared unpleasant. “Mr. Cook is here, so we’re going downstairs to calm him first.”
Quite a number of people stood up right away and followed Miles to leave the boardroom quickly.
Few people remained in the boardroom to wait for Sadie’s instructions for the next step.
The manager of the projects department, Sean, was frustrated. He scolded softly, “Ms. Wolfenden…”
Sadie raised her head with a fatigued expression. She waved her hand dismissively and said, “I figure that I can’t continue to hold the general manager position anymore. The board of directors will call for a meeting this afternoon at the earliest.
“By then, the general manager position will most probably be given to Miles. Thank you for all your support in me all this time, everyone.
“Don’t worry, everyone. Even though I’ll be leaving the company, my father will still be here, so Miles won’t have the audacity to be ruthless to all of you.”
Sean was about to say something when Sadie raised her hand to stop him. Soon afterward, she said, “All of you may go downstairs. I’ll be right behind you.”
Sean realized that it would be inappropriate for him to comment further upon witnessing the situation. In truth, he had always admired Sadie’s capability.
Otherwise, he would never have supported Sadie all this time.
It was a waste that Miles was in the company too. When it came to schemes and the world’s ways, Sadie was still lacking in experience. Everyone, including Kayson, walked out of the boardroom.
Sadie was caught in a daze as she looked at the deserted boardroom. A moment later, she packed up the documents on the table with a dejected expression.
