Chapter 241 I Didn’t Care About Her Life or Death
I paused for a moment, instinctively looking up at Walter.
Walter slightly furrowed his brow, shaking his head at me, indicating that I didn’t need to tell the truth.
I didn’t understand why Daniel would ask this at that moment. I replied, “No, I’m at the police station, helping the police to find Henry’s body.”
Lying left me somewhat parched, I picked up the water cup and took a sip.
On the other end of the phone, Daniel didn’t ask me anything more. He simply said, “On the cliff wall opposite the Heart Island.”
For a moment, I didn’t realize he was talking about Henry’s body. It was Walter who took the initiative, taking the phone from my hand. and pressing the end call button.
Then he pulled me and said, “Let’s go.”
I was still a bit dazed until I ran into Captain Lucas who was coming to meet me. Walter looked at him and said, “Henry’s body was thrown on the cliff opposite the Heart Island. You need to arrange for someone to investigate the scene immediately and bring the body back.”
Captain Lucas paused, nodded, and without saying anything more, directly led people to the Heart Island.
Daniel had left Henry on the Heart Island!
Captain Lucas left, and Walter was ready to go, pulling me along.
Seeing that I was standing still, he looked back at me, frowning, “What’s wrong?”
I looked at him, “I couldn’t leave the police station yet.”
I was still a suspect then.
Looking at me, a hint of helplessness appeared on Walter’s face. Het spoke, “It’s okay, I’ve notified the police station. You’re free to move around. Go.”
After speaking, he didn’t wait for my response and directly took me out of the police station.
After leaving the police station, he took me to a restaurant and ordered some food.
Seeing that I was constantly out of sorts, he looked at me and said, “Don’t worry, as long as we find the body, the results will come out quickly.”
I looked up at him and said, “Ashley killed the person.” I told him this to let him know that if my suspicion was cleared, Ashley would be the murderer. An eye for an eye, Ashley would die.
Seeing me speak like this, Walter nodded, his gaze calm, “I know.”
“Did you know you were still helping me?” What I wanted to ask him was, wasn’t he upset that Ashley had become a murderer? But I never did.
Seeming to understand the implication in my words, he slightly -furrowed his brows, looking at me with a somewhat serious
expression. “From the moment I knew she wasn’t you from the past, her life or death became irrelevant to me. You don’t need to test me on this,” he said.
I pursed my lips, feeling somewhat uneasy, and said, “I wasn’t probing, just telling you the fact.”
He raised an eyebrow, squinting his dark pupils at me, saying, “So, you care that I care about her?”
“No!” The word almost slipped out of my mouth.
He hooked his lips, didn’t speak, only the faint smile at the corner of his mouth could barely reveal his mood, which seemed not bad.
There was no need to continue this topic. I lowered my head to eat, but after such a long fuss, I had long lost my appetite. Besides, I had something on my mind, so I couldn’t eat much before I couldn’t eat
anymore.
Walter naturally noticed my condition and frowned, saying, “Don’t waste food.”
I pursed my lips, lifted my gaze and glanced at him, saying, “You ordered it yourself, you eat it.”
I originally wanted to snap at him out of annoyance, but somehow, when the words came out, they unexpectedly sounded a bit… childish!
Seeing him smile at me, I nodded and said, “Hmm, I’ll eat, you should eat some too.”
This sentence was filled with… indulgence.
