Chapter 243 The Most Troublesome are the Petty Ones

I actually forgot, we still had to return to the old house together today.

On the bus.

All the way in silence, I originally thought he would say something to me, like warning me not to get too close to Daniel or something, but he didn’t, he didn’t say anything.

Upon arriving at the old house, it was already late.

When I got off the car, as if possessed, I suddenly turned to him and said. “I’m not familiar with Daniel.”

His body paused for a moment, then he glanced at me sideways, his gaze cool and restrained, his voice low, “I know.”

Me??

Is that it?

Seeing him say nothing and just get off the car like that, I was baffled. I thought he would say something.

He didn’t say anything, really, I was a bit unaccustomed to it.

Following him into the yard, I was a bit distracted and didn’t notice when he suddenly stopped. I walked straight into his back. The man was solidly built, and the impact twisted my features. My nose stung, and for a moment, I was in so much pain that I covered my nose and hissed.

A deep, restrained male voice came from above, “What are you

thinking about?”

Covering my nose, I grimaced in pain, looking up at him speechlessly, “What could I think? Haven’t I been following you all along? Why did you suddenly stop?”

This person really, looked quite thin, but how could their flesh be so firm? It hurt so much that tears were almost coming out.

Seeing my genuine pain, he furrowed his brows, his tone slightly softened as he asked, “Does it hurt a lot?”

I said irritably, “Why don’t you try hitting it? Why did you suddenly stop?”

He paused, unsure of what I had said that seemed to improve his mood slightly. Seeing his face no longer as cold as before, he looked towards the inner courtyard hall.

I followed his gaze.

In the brightly lit inner courtyard hall, apart from Mrs. Hinton of the Hinton family and Dale’s group, there was also a stranger… Jacob.

What did he come for?

I frowned, curious but ultimately didn’t ask too much. After all, this Jacob was a relative of Emma’s. Perhaps Jacob came here because he had something to do.

Thinking of this, I didn’t say much more either.

Entered the inner courtyard hall with Walter.

I had barely entered when I sensed that something was off with the atmosphere.

Jacob looked pale, the old lady was somewhat helpless, and upon seeing us return, Dale hurriedly asked, “You’re back, have you had dinner?”

Walter and I nodded in agreement.

Hearing the sound, Jacob turned around to look at us. Seeing us, he suddenly stood up from his seat and walked towards us with a gloomy expression.

To be precise, it was walking towards me.

Seeing this, the old lady stood up nervously and said, “Xiao Zhao, don’t be impulsive. If there’s anything, just say it calmly.”

Jacob seemed not to hear the old lady’s voice, he walked towards me with a gloomy face. Just as he was about to approach me, Walter stepped forward, blocking him from me, looking at him with a cold expression.

Blocked by Walter, Jacob seemed to regain some sanity. He looked at Walter and said, “Walter, after Gianna went home last night, she threatened to commit suicide. She said that Tabatha pushed her into the pond, not only hit her but also insulted her. Last night, she lost control of her emotions and swallowed a bottle of sleeping pills. If I hadn’t found out in time, my daughter would have died. You owe me an explanation for this.”
