Chapter 416 Marguerite

He didn’t say the words that followed,

I wasn’t in the mood to listen either, feeling that all these words were nonsense. Wasn’t it all caused by Ezra that I had to endure such torment? Would he feel sorry when he saw it?

After checking the person lying on the ground and taking a careful look, he turned to us. Seeing this, I ignored Sebastian and quickly looked at the man, asking, “How is it?”

”

The man glanced-at Sebastian. Sebastian pursed his lips and asked the same question I had. Only then did the man speak, “The internal organs are basically damaged. He won’t die immediately, but he won’t live much longer either.”

Sebastian gave a slight nod, looking at me, repeating the same sentence, he said, “Ms. Conner, I’ll take you to get treated.”

What he meant was that he had absolutely no intention of saving this old man.

Seeing him like this, I frowned, my voice somewhat hoarse, “Get someone to treat him.”

He furrowed his brows slightly, a faint frown etched on his forehead as he said, “He’s dying. The gentleman wouldn’t let me save him, nor did he intend to let anyone save him.”

“Did he commit murder or arson, that you treat him this way, an old man, you plan to just watch him die?” I was somewhat angry, but I was relying on the bit of kindness Ezra had shown me. I knew that as long as I was angry, Sebastian would listen.

Sure enough, he furrowed his brow and ordered someone, “Go get a doctor to check on him.”

The person nodded and left.

Upon seeing this, I subtly let go of my worries.

The people who were tormented to death here were certainly not bad people. They were either people who refused to be used by Ezra, or those who came here intending to destroy this place. Otherwise, with Ezra’s methods, any useless person would have been killed by him long

ago.

So, this person was not a bad person, and I certainly wouldn’t stand by and do nothing while they were in danger.

“Ms. Conner, let me take you to get treated.” Sebastian spoke, and in the midst of his words, he had already led me out of the brick house.

The old man had agreed to find someone for treatment, so naturally, I didn’t say much more. I came outside with Sebastian. This place, as far as the eye could see, was filled with Venom Roses, blooming endlessly and overwhelmingly. In the vast sea of Venom Roses, there were people working hard. These things wouldn’t take long to harvest.

Such drugs, once matured, would pose a threat to the entire planet, not just domestically.

For the sake of money, these people really did stop at nothing to gain profit.

Sebastian seemed oblivious to my mood, leading me to a clean room with a decent environment. He brought in a doctor, a young girl in her early twenties.

Looking at me, the little girl spoke to me in her broken Chinese, “I’ll apply some medicine for you, it won’t hurt much, don’t be afraid.”

Sebastian had already left. I looked up at her, a typical South Afeorian appearance. She was somewhat dark-skinned, her facial features were not particularly prominent, but neither were they flat. Her eyes were sunken, giving her a somewhat profound look.

Seeing me looking at her, the little girl felt somewhat uneasy and said, “Hello Miss, my name is Marguerite, I live nearby, I came to help you apply medicine.”

I nodded, judging by the looks of it, it must have been the local farmers that Sebastian had called over. I had forgotten, this place was remote, how could there possibly be a doctor.

Looking at the medicine bottle in Marguerite’s hand, I reached out to take it, saying to her, “Give it to me, I’ll do it myself.”

It hurt just now, the wounds on my body were indeed unbearable, but it’s better now. Although it still hurts, it’s not fatal.

Seeing that I seemed not to want her help, she handed me the medicine she was holding and stood aside, seemingly wanting to say something but hesitating. Seeing this, I couldn’t help but ask, “What’s wrong?”

Looking at me, she lowered her head and said, “If I don’t help you with the medicine, he won’t give me any money.”
